Just curious...
I am in Liberty township and a few months ago got an offer to buy my royalties for 1500 to 1800 per acre, but they would do a more in-depth look if I was serious which "mite change the numbers" slightly....even tho I am not drilled or receiving any royalties ..talked to a landsman rite b4 I contacted them and he advised caution as there will be "significant" activity in my area in the "near future"....how about it, anybody else get an offer or hear anything or see any activity here in Tioga Co. ?

Looks like another way to tighten and shorten the chain around the ordinary citizen's neck! Am I reading this right?

SWEPI had applied for a two year extension on the permits for the four wells, which they did not complete, back in the late summer. This may have something to do with the issuing of those extensions.
Given the length of the Painter #2 lateral and Eclipse's stated desire to find a buyer for their acreage, yes. Shell has suggested to me that they could have gotten more from some of their wells pretty easily if they'd wanted to make headlines, but they didn't. So I would caution that although this is admittedly an impressive number 31 day number, it doesn't prove that this well is at the core of the field. Anyone who's been in the business a while knows that IP numbers are only part of the story, and often manipulated. I'm hopeful, of course, but is this the core? Personally I'd still question that.
Based on what I've heard those wells aren't likely to be completed until late 2020 or early 2021. Things are likely to be very quiet for a while, hence the request for inactive status.
13,800' feet of lateral was reported by Eclipse in their press release. That's about twice as long as the typical wells Shell was drilling a couple years ago. And some of the earlier wells went less than 4,000'. So it's hard to make direct comparisons for this and various other reasons. I like the Eclipse acreage position, but it's still unclear where the best wells to date have been drilled.
Because they're Marcellus wells.
Everybody I know in the business says that the Eclipse position is available. They aren't even taking leases on drillsite acreage right now. (Check the title to their Douglass location - they've got several unleased owners and haven't even made them offers.) Regarding 18 month top leases, you can't get buyers to pay for leases with short fuses. (Shell wouldn't pay Ultra much for anything with less than 3 years to run.) Their focus is on finding a real buyer and selling - if it wasn't, they wouldn't need to be taking top leases so early.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
