Any renewed leasing efforts in Wayne County?

I understand there are expiring leases that have not been developed.  Hopefully, the gas companies will not use DRBC as an excuse to use force majeure.

NWPOA is alive and well. We presented much testimony early in the Spring before the Del River Basin Comm. We are now waiting for them to issue revised regulations. What most of us can't understand is why there is one small section on one county where state regulations don't apply. The State has ceded its sovereignty to a bunch of bureaucrats in Philly.

Has anyone seen/read the "Analysis" done by a JM Barth, an "Economist" in the areas of Transportation and Art (that background makes her sound credible), who stated that the effect of Marcellus Shale drilling on the economy of NY would be "underwhelming"? Apparently she looked at it from a jobs only point of view and used the old gas fields on western NY as a model. There was nothing about what up-front payments were received by those landowners; when they were received; the effect of those payments; what the royalty percentages and amounts were received from the existing wells; or how much royalty money in total was going into those counties. She also never estimated the total amount of up front or royalty payments which would be received by NY landowners -- as if that money and those people don't count.

She also gave opinions as irrefutable facts such as, "Far fewer retirees will choose to settle and second home-owners would certainly be vastly reduced in number." and "existing residents may be driven out due to the increasingly industrial landscape". Those comments sound familiar. It is more fear and wailing about subjects unknown to the writer who is obviously creating "facts" from her opinions. In other words, she started from a conclusion that drilling is bad and then worked backwards to find out what she could say to support that position.

Oh, and her consulting firm's work address is a PO Box. Must be a cramped office.

I posted a question back in December re;first awareness of potential income from gas leases prior to 2006. Would someone please provide me with some input? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

I spoke on the radio about the benefits of the marcellus and the economic impact it will have on Pa economy. Does anyone have "Talking points" printed up that they can post for me, or email me. I will be calling in again and can use any help, especially facts to forward our cause. The local radio is Wilk 980 AM or 103.1 FM.

Thanks. I f someone had knowledge of the energy business and lived in the area would they have known the land had more value as a result of the natural gas potential in 2005 or 2006? I would appreciate your feedback.

For many landowners, they found out about the gas possibilities too late. Since there was a history of $10 leases, they scoffed at the chance of gas in Pa. Check the date of the first Range Resources Marcellus well in SW Pa that made the gas companies sit up and take notice and started the rush. In the beginning, I think even the Landmen and the gas companies didn't understand how big this thing would get.
