Over a month ago, a Long Consultant rep came around wanting me to sign for permission for Shell to do a 3-D seismic survey. I told them I wasn't leased, and they said someone would be around soon to talk to me. Well, no one came around.
Finally I contacted Andrea Garrity at Shell. Thanks to whoever gave me her e-mail!! She seems to have lit fires under several people. I got a phone call from Long Consulting this morning, apologizing for not talking to me. The guy from Long said that he understands that I'm "currently negotiating a lease" with Shell. Hmmm...I haven't heard from anyone yet (Andrea told me that the guy I'm supposedly negotiating with was out of the office last week). The Long guy is going to email back to Andrea that no one has contacted me yet. At least I'm on their radar now. I hope that the drilling end is more organized than the leasing end; so far I'm not impressed with Shell or Long Consulting.

No, things are really slow in NE TC now so it's probably not the right time. And it's still unsettled (at least to the public) how SWEPI and Talisman will end up dividing the old East/Fortuna mutual interests. If I wanted to lease soon, I'd probably contact Elexco (Talisman) first because the last lease they offered had better nonfinancial terms.
SWEPI is moving right along with their connector to the Tioga County Extension (TCE) of the Empire Pipeline. Talisman has had E&S Permits for portions of their connector for a while, but don't know how it's going. The TCE is scheduled to go into service at the end of this year. Since Talisman and SWEPI are the subscribers, they will have to start shipping gas through it. So in a little over a year, we (the public) should see well production numbers for this area. Which of course could be good news ... or it could be bad news.
Elexco no longer does work for Talisman in Tioga. I believe they hire a group called Miller Land Professionals to handle Tioga.
I think the stall in the northern half of Tioga has a lot to do with NY's three year drilling stall. NY seems to be on track to open up permiting by early 2012.
Except for their DCNR and adjoining land, I'm not aware Talisman is doing any drilling in TC. I do expect them to drill in NY when it opens up; they have pipelines in place and leases to hold. The last contact I had from an Elexco landman for gas leasing was about a year ago. For a while, they were also doing the leasing for a (now cancelled) wind farm in TC. Iirc, I had read that East had transferred their joint venture interest in NY to Talisman. Do you happen to know how much land SWPI does have under lease in NY?
They are currently drilling 8 wells off wilson road in covington twp....there for approx. 3 mos. now...applied for new permits for hamilton, liberty, union and ward twps.
According to the DEP Permits spreadsheet for the first 6 months of 2011, Talisman got permits for the 6 Detweiller wells (Covington) and 20 DCNR wells (Ward). From this and previous records, it appears to me that Talisman is in that area primarily to drill the DCNR land they leased.
I was probably wrong when I wrote "adjoining land"; should have been "nearby land".
went off of memory....you're right with 6 wells not 8
i can see the rig from my property
The landman didn't say much. He didn't know if they would offer a non-surface to me; he says that he personally has only gotten them for properties under 20 acres. And he thought they might offer less bonus for a non-surface. I didn't ask about well testing, but that's a good idea.
The part about the bonus is in section 1: " In consideration of the bonus consideration paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged..." The landman said it would be in the form of a "bank draft". That's all I know about it.
Lynn; In responce to your thinking that the bank draft is instant money, IT IS A 90 DAY DRAFT AND HAS TO BE DEPOSITED IN YOUR BANK, THEN FORWARDED TO SHELL'S BANK BY YOUR BANK, AND SHELL HAS 90 DAYS TO DO THE 105 YEAR SEARCH OF YOUR DEED, AND WHEN ALL IS OK THEN AND ONLY THEN WILL YOUR BANK GET THE OK TO RELEASE THE MONEY TO YOU. Thats the deal i'm in right now waiting for the approvel of the draft, it's been 45 days. as far as addenda on non surface goes as i said before they will offer some. My property is all but 30 acres in chatham twns. and a non surface.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
