Just curious how you decided on this particular attorney...I'm from Pittsburgh...but will be beginning the search for an O&G attorney very soon...

Yes and No...

I intend to have a second opinion once the lease is presented to us.  There just may be something I need to add, or delete, based on my individual situation.

It only cost me 10 bucks to join the group...and not a penny more if I don't sign with them.

But they've done all the upfront leg work...

Seems like a deal to me!

...there are two attorneys that have LOTS OF EXPERIENCE in Oil and Gas Leasing, and all the aspects associated with it. They are O&G attorneys. I also have spoken with many landowners who worked with them and they highly recommend them. One is in Slippery Rock...Ron Coyer @724 794 2929 and the other one is in the city of Butler...Tom May@724 282 3141.

I talked to several attorneys by phone and asked several questions about my deeds and lease. Mr. Sloan was the only one that had me read the deed to him  and told me "I don't want to take you money over the concern about your deed because there is not a problem with it". In my past experience with attorneys, they want to take your money first and drag out the session to bill you more. I set up an appointment with him and he reviewed the lease from REX and my deeds. (I presently have the property leased to Phillips, expires in Jan 2012) He made several suggestions as to what should be included in the lease and said I should wait until the end of the year to make a decision on the terms. The $$$ I paid for the hour will be applied to any work that he will do on the lease. He was up to date with the different court actions pending (concerning mineral rights) and in general knew what he was talking about.

I found two attorneys from Pitts who were willing to help people in bad leases.  Most of the attorney were looking for easier cases.  Check out www.shaleadvice.com  ask for Steve or Jim.   They are doing a landowners meeting and are informative.  One was an oil and gas attorney for 26 years.   The meeting at Wayne Twp Nov 10  (6P.M.) is just off of Rt 65 as you are coming into Ellwood City.  There is another on 224, Nov 14 in Hillsville, Pa    They are both listed on the web site.    There is a lot to know.  We are in a bad lease.  My recommendation is that you listen and educate yourself.  You will be able to determine who is best for you.  Good Luck  Lana Boyer

Why are we being subjected to these infomercial advertisements for an attorney all of a sudden? This forum is for landowners to share information....... Isn't it?

Because the landemen are on this forum picking off the uninformed landownwers and they are signing leases that are for the benefit of the O&G companies and not the landowner.  There are no solicitations, just information. We cannot prevent those who promote the services of others.

It is!  And I am a landowner that is paying the price  of a bad land mans "fraudulent" actions.   If you are doing your job with respect to the land owner then I commend you!   Stay honest!    If you feel that lying is the only way to get signatures then call me!  You can reach me at Day Dream Tours in Wampum  724-535-1060.   Because I have  my own advice.  And this doesn't come from an Attorney!!!!    Don't sign directly with a land man. For example:  If you are going to a meeting that is put on by Shell and they are providing you with all of the terms.  Don't you think it should be wise as the "land owner - landlord" to draft your own term to protect your individual needs on your property.  Not blanket terms that are generic to everyone!   This commercial is brought to you by a land owner who did her homework!

I think mineral attorneys can advise for other states right?
