The symptoms the children at LeRoy High School in LeRoy New York are suffering from are very similar to the neurological symptoms shown in the movie "Split Estate". The movie documents what citizens in Rocky Mountain States have been living with for years, primarily in the towns of Dish Texas and Denton Texas.

You lose credibility when you revert to name calling. If it is not name calling please provide a source for your claim. Having one person or one group of people say something is so, does not prove it as fact. I understand that many of you will want to use that statement against me, which is why I now only make posts with a link to the source I am referring too.
I don't have time to read all of this and have been minimally following this story.... but I thought fracking was banned in NY state. And the (old) chemical spill was NOT frack fluid so what is your point?
Keep in mind the "syndrome" being experienced in LeRoy, NY is exactly the same psychological disorder that lead to the hysteria that resulted in the Salem Witch Trials 400 years ago. This is nothing new under the sun. Hopefully we have learned a thing or two since.
Have not really followed this news story, but though I saw a report that the old chemical spill was from a train derailment.
The train derailment is one possible source of neuro-toxins.
"The district also reported that four of the wells were done by hydraulically fracturing underground deposits of Medina Sandstone in order to reach pockets of gas. However the technique used at the school was low-volume hydrofracking, not the controversial high-volume hydrofracking that’s become a huge environmental issue in New York."
In my experience, with people who are in the industry, fracking chemicals are also used in the low volume process.
Matt... here is a report for the railroad derailment superfund site from the EPA http://www.epa.gov/Region2/superfund/npl/0203481c.pdf
Only High Volume fracking was banned, that was mentioned in the article I provided the link too. Here is a quote from another article clarifying this, "Some or all of the gas wells, which ring the school grounds just south of the village, have been hydraulically fractured, state environmental officials have said." and a link to the article: http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20120201/NEWS01/2020103...
Howard how many of us do you think you have convinced here, i havent seen you answer even 1 question that Mark asked, Why even respond if your not going to anwer the questions cosidering its your post & have all the answers
I answered the question to the individual who brought them up. I did see Mark's post until after I had already responded to them individually. Re-read through the entire thread from the beginning and you will find my answers.
Look right below - (4) points - simple responses required. No name calling. Straight forward questions:
1. The title says"... fracing spill documented on school grounds" Yet it is not supported in the body of the article.
2. In the last paragraph of the it article it says "...because of brine spilled on the ground." Brine and frac fluid are different things. Frac fluid of course is used in a frac job. Brine is produced when the well is in production.
3.You claim there is no documentation. Yet the story states the correspondent obtained documents citing the company for a spill.
4.The article states ..."officials claim there is still a lack of evidence linking environmental conditions to the mystery disease.." So how can you claim that this was caused by fracing ?
The story referenced, IMHO, is meant to inflame the uniformed. The devil's in the details.
1. Watch the CNN video embedded into the article.
2. You are now arguing semantics, the wells were fractured (fact), "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" in this case toxic.
3. you are confusing documentation of the spill, with documentation confirming whether the gas wells or the train derailment has contaminated the soil on the school grounds. Certainly something killed the trees and grass in those two separate location, which just happen to coincide with the two wells that leaked and were reported to the EPA.
4. I did not claim this was due to fracking, I asked "if" it was due to fracking. There is no link because the school refuses to allow any further testing on its property.
IMHO many of the people on this forum are seeking to bury these concerns with a bunch of BS.
1.) I did watch the embedded article. Since CNN says it might be frack water well then, it must be!
2.) You do understand that brine comes up out of the well wether it is fracked or not? If they spilled brine, it may or may not have had some residual frack liquid / material. Pretty thin. I'm curious why the neurotoxin derailment is not getting as much attention.
3.) Yes, your right, salt will kill grass trees etc. Your point is?
4.) Tell us why the school would not want to allow further testing?
My personal experience is that manure makes things grow. You are trying to grow something here that, well no one believes in. Mostly because of politics. I have NO faith in what you are suggesting.
Where Bambi goes nothing grows.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
