Hello everyone,
Does anyone have any information on a well just permitted on June 21st to Devon Energy in Knox Township, Guernsey County, Ohio? The well name is D Brill 1H. Also, is anyone aware of any working relationships between Devon and Anadarko in the Utica Shale play? Thanks very much for any help or insight.

Hello,
yes they have a pad stacked right next to my property line. There farm borders our property, they only received $500 an acre early in the play, royalies i think 14%. I am taking my range finder down there I think they are less then the require from my property line, 85 ft. I think. Did not know if they are in the mix with the other company.
Our minaral rights are held by a shallow well about a mile from my property and across the street, meaning "held by production" the farm was 246 acres sold off in lots. We own our minaral rights, but cannot do anything with them. Has anyone ever beat a shallow well driller in court to get their rights back? I think there is a lot of that going on in OH. due to the fact it is around $12000 to plug a well, and most drillers just keep fundging the numbers, to keep them active.

To William Rinehart,
Thank you for the information. Can you tell me where this particular location is? I own property on Mantua Rd and Hopewell Rd very near Indian Camp and am also part of a production unit with Anadarko. When I saw the Brill well permit, I thought perhaps this was part of my unit and that Anadarko had partnered with Devon to drill. Are you aware of another well site in the area I am talking about? Thanks again.
Keith,
About a mile off 658, on swan rd. Does anyone know how far a well pad is suppose to be from property line?

500' setback from the well bore.
I own land on Mantua Rd and Hopewell Rd very near Indian Camp in Knox Township. This land is part of a 200 acre production unit with Anadarko. We have yet to hear when they plan to drill. Anadarko does not communicate very well with it's landowners so you are left to scrounge around for information any way you can get it. Our unit was just put together late in the fall of 2011.
At the time we signed our lease with them in mid-October, we were simply told that our land would be part of a 200 acre unit. There has been no communication since then. If you are just now getting into this, be forewarned it is a frustrating process. Landowner's are typically just left to wait and wonder. I follow the ODNR website every week hoping to see an Anadarko well permitted in Knox Township. So far, nothing.
It is said that patience is a virtue, unfortunately I have too little of it. It is entirely possible that many wells will not be drilled until 2013-2014. So, we wait.
WE are held by production from an old shallow well northwood energy, meaning we cannot sell our minaral rights, and if we do we are held by the terms of the old lease 12% no signing bonus. We tryed to get released but they said now way. Now they told use they sold our rights to another company, we are thinking devon, makes sence, no bonus money minimal royalities. There should be a law against some of this stuff. ODNR read it there if your part of production then they can put it right on the line.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
