Permalink Reply by craig on January 30, 2013 at 1:43pm Chesapeake probably has 90% of the leases in Beaver County. Unless you are in the very Northern part of the county you will probably be leasing with them.
The trouble is that for the last some months they have been offering peanuts for re-leasing expiring leases. Unless you have a fair amount of acreage and/or you have property that they really need they won't offer anything worthwhile. Neighbors have been offered anywhere from $200/acre signing bonus up to $1,000 recently. Some of the uninformed signed at those numbers, which in my humble opinion was stupid.

I believe that many folks feel that they missed the boat on the land grab and that something is better than nothing. That is not always the case. Signing a lease with bad economic terms most likely also contains terms that will harm the land and water of the landowner and the neighbors for possibly generations.

chk is letting leases expire in Chippewa also! lots of leases coming up this year and early next. gonna be interesting!

This is another land company that Range is using. We are dealing with them on behalf of a few of our clients in the area.
