If this comes about, it would be great for the local economy as well as landowners that are leased and seeking to lease...

Your post did not offend me at all. I just don't understand why you insist on putting the most negative slant on everything. From a business prospective, it is the worst possible thing that you can do. You are a landowner, you want a lease with good terms, you want good royalties, the minerals under you land are what you are marketing. You are posting to suggest that the Allam Well, which has not even been flared is dry gas? Read Halcon's press release today on the Phillips Well...Truly, it does not matter what either of us think...The formations that are under us are what they are. Time and technology will settle the issue.
You are right. And even dry gas is not bad if the price of gas continues to improve. Also it is certainly possible that fracking technology will improve which will increase the value of everybody's land. The fact that the price of natural gas is up somewhat is also a positive. I assuredly hope that the cracker plant is built in Monaca, and that the announcement comes soon. After the Halcon debacle in Mercer County, I probably have over-reacted. I am talking about those who signed leases and then had their property rejected by Halcon.
Thanks Sam. I am even more encouraged after reading Glenn's post. I hope every landowner gets a good lease. Good news coming out of Phellps well today.
I agree that Glenn's post is good news. I recall that Shell got a six month extension for their option to build the cracker plant in Monaca at the old Horsehead Nickel plant. My vague recollection is that the original option was to run out in January 2013, when they opted to obtain a six month extension. I could be wrong. Therefore if anyone can dig out that information out, we may know when a firm yay or nay is due from Shell?!
I am not sure that halcon is the true villian
I do think this is going to take time to wash out
I bought a few shares today, at around $5.50. My thoughts are if they are going to invest in my home County, I will return the favor....Time will tell....
John,
If you look at the Beaver County site , there is a thread about this pipeline headed to Vanport. It is an actuality , not a rumor. I believe it is called the Mariner West. Next door to the proposed Shell Cracker Site is Nova Chemical. I believe they may be involved in this pipeline as well. Shell has been very actively swapping leases with Hilcorp here in Southern and Eastern Lawrence County. Patience is the name of the game. I feel comfortable being leased to Shell. Word is that 2014 will be busy for Shell. For now I think they are trying to solidify areas of immediate interest and await infrastructure projects like this to be completed before putting the hammer down. Stay optomistic friend , good things are coming our way (I hope). At least they still have me for another 3-1/2 yrs. with an option for 5 more after that. I hope it's sooner.
Glenn
Shell's option to acquire the old Horsehead Nickel facility in Beaver County was to expire December 31, 2012. In late December 2012, Shell was granted a six month extension. Thus we should know by July 1, 2013 whether Shell is going to build the cracker plant in Monaca. Let's hope the answer is yes!

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
