Last week, a landman from EdgeMarc stopped by to get permission to survey my property for a proposed gas pipeline going through parts of Center Twp., Conoquenessing Twp., etc., and going along Rt. 68 to the processing plant south of Prospect on Rt. 528. I also heard from a friend that XTO got permission to survey his property for another proposed pipe line in the same general area.
Anyone else heard anything about these proposed lines?

Thanks for the info. EdgeMarc pays approx. $10.00 to $12.00 per ft. for the portion that goes thru your property. I think XTO is offering around that amount as well. Not very much for a permanent pipeline, unless it's paid yearly instead of one time, for instance.
I wonder if having a pipeline on your property would help or hinder getting a gas lease. I've had 5 opportunities to sign in the last 4 years with Shell, XTO, and EdgeMarc. Each time I'm ready to sign, they decided they "aren't leasing in my area at this time".

That is about the number I have come up with for yearly "wheelage" or rent . May be a bit high but - lotta $$$'s being made on that line.

Probably doesn't matter. IMHO
Just a matter of time. Eventually they are going to lease every square inch of this area.
Way too much gas down there- gonna take some time to get to it all. Hang in there.

Not related to Center Twp, I am in Middlesex, but I punch up this site and see a new pipeline thread.
Very strange, Within the last hour a landman from Markwest stopped by to get permission to survey my property for a proposed gas pipeline.
Bit of a surprise because there is one already surveyed about 500' feet away in the other direction. Apparently according to the landman someone internally said it was going too close to a school and need to be rerouted. Not State regs or anything just Markwests call. Don't know if there are really any setbacks by law for pipelines but I am going to check.
The proposed line would cross my property for about 500', far enough away through the edge of a planted field that I am not too concerned. If done correctly (double ditch etc. ) I do not see a problem. Relatively flat so I do not see an erosion problem.
Anybody out there have any input as to pipelines.
Markwest - good-bad -indifferent?
Safety ?
Lease terms?
$$$$$ ?
Any input would be most helpful and greatly appreciated

According to the landman that stopped by my place, the Edgemarc pipeline is going from the processing plant on Hartmann Road in Jackson Township to a tie-in Concord Twp, west of SR 38 and will follow the 138 kV powerline ROW. The landman said that the pipeline was to be located on the edge of the cleared power line ROW. The survey crew came out and put the pipeline centerline stakes ~ 150 feet from the edge of the cleared ROW. The new pipeline is to have a 50 foot ROW. In wooded areas there would be a strip of trees between the new pipeline and the existing electric line. Does anybody know why they are not abutting the cleared powerline right-of-way? Is there a second powerline or pipeline proposed in this area?
We have been approached about allowing a pipeline thru the middle of our property and we don't want any part of it. Now I am worried the pipeline company will do eminent domain on us. Does anyone know if these pipeline companies are considered public utilities and allowed to do eminent domain? Thank you Markkot for the PDF on pipelines. It was very helpful but I am wondering about eminent domain.
