Rex is permitting the Michael Unit in Connoquenessing Township, Butler County, PA.
In addition to Marcellus (XH) and Burkett wells (XHB) there is what appears to be a Rhinestreet (XHR) well in this group of wells. There are several large tracts of land in Connoquenessing Township under the ownership of Michael. I can't tell where exactly these wells will be placed.
This will be interesting.

Permalink Reply by Robert Allingham on June 1, 2014 at 1:45pm Would someone explain how to read the Rex graph as far as the color code works or how to tell wet from dry gas/ condensate vs oil? I assume the black color represents shale but what is organic vs inorganic, etc.? Thanks in advance!
Permalink Reply by Philip Thackray on May 31, 2014 at 3:55am My best guess location is the Nursery between Shannon Road and Double Road on Rt 68. This puts the Michael well pad about 1 mile North East of the Shipley well pad on Constitution Avenue.

Permalink Reply by Larry F on June 1, 2014 at 1:23am When the rig left the Shipley pad, I assumed it was heading to the next pad down Rt 68... Too bad they didn't drill that many wells at the Shipley site.
Are there multiple pads at the Michael site? I can't see anything from the road, there are two access roads on one side of 68 and one on the other. I'm sure one or two are for the pipeline, possibly the larger road is for a pad (on the other side of 68 from Shipley). They have been working there for quite some time.
Here's another well within a mile or so from Connoq. school. Good thing this isn't Mars School District!

I think that all the current work at the Nursery is only pipeline. I don't know where the Shipley rig went. The wells at the Michael site are numbered to 15.

Congratulations if you are going to be in the Michaels unit. The first three pay zone Rex.

The well logs presented in the Rex and Range documents are not labeled. I'm sure that a geologist could tell what each graph is just from the context but I can't do that. Here is a simplified and labeled well log from an earlier Rex presentation:
GR (green) = gamma ray and is a measure of organic content.
RHOB = Bulk density.
It looks like this same information is in the earlier well log but there is so much else going on I couldn't say for sure.

Permalink Reply by Larry F on August 14, 2014 at 7:49am Just drove past the Michael Pad on Rt 68, they have a sign up and a drilling rig going up. This is located at the area we thought was a pipeline crossing, roughly 2 miles East of the Shipley well pad. Not sure how long it's been there, it's off the road a bit and I haven't noticed it until today.
They took the guard shack down at Shipley and locked the gates, I'm assuming they are in a waiting period after fracking the wells. Lots of tanks and equipment were brought in before the gates were locked up.

There is a pipeline crossing there as well.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
