Does anyone know if these gas companies and subcontractors use any compressed natural gas vehicles or do they just fill up with foreign diesel fuel?  US has Boon Pickens and corporations asking for governmental support and funding for CNG, one has to ask where the leadership is on this topic.

Carolyn,

Conservation and alternate energy is a worthy long term goal.

Making cars that use electric is not the solution either, unless you are generating that electric with Nuclear power. And even then the amount of energy expended to make an electric car and all the

components is by no means conserving anything.

Converting a fraction of our vehicles to run on NG would have amazing results....keeping alot more of our $'s at home( not sending it overseas) which could help fund the search for alternate fuels. Think what this would mean to our countrys'  balance of payments and our future.

It would also create many new badly needed jobs, help the environment with lower vehicle emissions and raise tax revenues.

Dimock is the exception, not the rule. If you were to do the math you would find out that the % of 'bad' wells drilled, out of all the horizontal wells drilled, is very very very small. Unfortunately when man and machine become involved in anything there will be some problems. We just need to make sure we do the best we can.

Well said Craig! I feel for the people of Dimock...this is the exception, not the rule! Conservation is one of those feel good words that we all like to use... The reality is that energy demands are growing all over the world...it only makes sense to manage all sources and use these sources to the best of our ability.
It's not an increase in energy use, it's a SHIFT in energy use.   Burning a cleaner, abundant domestic fuel had myriad advantages over imported crude.   It's the perfect fuel to get us to the point where we have the technology to be completely renewable, but that will not be possible for at least another 50 years.   Until then, we need to pick the "lesser of all evils",  which is obviously natty gas.
Mike,absolutely,100%,24KT,no doubt about it!
What are we living with in Dimmock PA.?
The 14 affected houses in Dimock could have had all problems alleviated if they would have let Cabot install filtration systems instead of holding out to try to sue and get a big paycheck.
AMEN MIKE!!

80% of electricity produced (green cars, hybrids ect) is produced from burning COAL.  A fossil fuel.  Windmills, dams, solar panels ect., although they help and im all for them, would in no way produce enough energy to supply america.  The sad truth of it we NEED fossil fuels, point blank period.

For those who are interested, the American Natural Gas Alliance, www.anga.us is a great source for info on natural gas use in vehicles, power plants etc. It is also working the political world to advance the use of natural gas. Check the site out.
