Chevron Lease Payment

My lease with Chevron expired in Feb. The land agent contacted me and we negotiated a new lease. My payment was supposed to be made 120 days after signing. It was due on July 3.

I still haven't received my payment. I've been in touch with the land agent. He said that lease was subject to management approval. I talked to him 2 weeks ago and he said that I would receive payment in 7 to 10 days. Still haven't received it.

Is anyone else having these problems? I live in Fayette Co. Pa.

Sounds like another landman 'pants on fire' situation to me.

did the landman say you would or you should receive payment in 7 to 10 days .......would and should have different meanings and landmen know how to use those words real good

Unfortunately, a signed lease does not obligate the Oil and Gas company to do anything.  If they do not pay you, they "quit the lease" and that is that.

I told the land agent, that in my opinion the nonpayment voided the lease. He said that there is a clause in the lease that says "upon management approval". It also says that payment would be paid 120 days after notarized signatures. I showed this to my daughter, who is an attorney. The only notarized signature on my lease is mine. So I guess that means 120 days after managements signature is notarized. In other words, I'm screwed until someone from management signs and gets it notarized.

I will never deal with Chevron again. Even though they are the only company leasing in my area.

There should be a time limit for management's signature. I think I'm going to tell them to stick their lease where the sun don't shine and see what happens.

 Shell is a hundred business days.Thats about 4 months.

Janet,

Legal documents must be executed in a "timely" manor.  Have an oil and gas lawyer "stick their lease where the sun don't shine".  On the other hand, it seems that there is no other game "in town".

Talk to the company. Landmen are not in the loop most of the time. Their job is just to get you to sign on the dogted line, then they are done.
