Metering and compression station

We have a gas company wanting to install and maintain a metering and compression station on our property. Has anyone had any experience with having this on your property.was is the going lease price for having one on your property. Thanks

Have a meter site on my property and live near 3 compression stations. Dont know what the going price is. The meter site isnt so bad.....not much noise......but dont forget the traffic in and out....and the gaslines that will be going into it.......and then later coming back and wanting to add additional lines. Compression stations seem much larger and louder.....they run 24/7.  I would check on the size and how they will limit the noise and smell....each company is different. My advice.....ask the company where they have other meter sites and compression stations and take a look for yourself. If i had to do it all again......not sure it would be worth it.

And by the way beetle, every compressorstion I visited (I went to 3 in PA) started out with 3 compressor units and within a year, more than doubled to 7 units. More than twice the size, pollution, noise, and vibrations. I hope they're giving you enough money to move away.

It is a shame that the above referenced video (and most other anti-drilling media) had to exaggerate the few problems that do exist in the industry and then ignore the progress that has been made in dealing with those problems. Good scare tactics, but they take away from the truth of what is being done in the field. 

All these folks want is to shut down drilling....it doesn't matter how, why, or where. I feel sorry for folks like that.

The truth is not a scare tactic. I've visited several compressor stations and interviewed the residents. This video gives more of the truth than the gas companies are giving leasers. It's up to you, money, or your health.

I'll agree with your statement about the gas companies giving out information. Anytime one signs a contract you best better understand what it entails, no matter what the subject matter is. 

"It's up to you, money, or your health."

See this is what I am talking about Ted.....It doesn't have to be all or nothing. In fact there are more and more instances where there has been a compromise/fix for some of the few real problems mentioned in  your video. It appears you have your blinders on and don't want to see what really can be done to address some of the problems you worry so much about. Lets not dwell on the past, lets move the technology forward so that we can do this responsibly. We just need to hold the gov'ts and companies feet to the fire to make sure it is done properly. Can't we agree on this?

Is this too much to ask?

Ted. I am just looking for some facts, not opinions. I understand a commercial from the gas companies will be self-serving, but the guerilla media tactics in the video rebuttal you posted remind me more of a PETA attach on McDonalds than informational. We need this economic boon for central PA and the country, and it can be done without turning our land toxic. As Craig said "We just need to hold the gov'ts and companies feet to the fire to make sure it is done properly."

Two compressor stations and a third being built less than a mile from me. The first TGP station was here for 40+ years, the only time you hear it is during pressure release even after it was upgraded eight years ago. Chesapeake and Central Energy of New York are the others, noise is a huge concern that these companies adressed right from the start of the projects, so far so good. As far as toxic fumes, only from antis, sorry, everything here is green and growing and progress is moving forward.

I am one of the "rare" people that has asthma. Yes this is said sarcastically. Last summer while they were running all the trucks up and down our road I wound up in the ER two times and had to go on multiple breathing medications. The Dr has said that it won't get better till the drilling and traffic stops. We have five per permits on my road at least one will be started soon.

While they are using the roads here and drilling I have been advised by my medical Dr to not stay in our home. So far this has not been possible we only own one home. So the air cleaners and air conditioners make it possible for me to remain in our home and I do mean IN. Till the drilling started I spent most of my time outside and active. The reason we moved here was the fact that there was no traffic and industrial pollution. For 33 years this has been true.

Now don't get me wrong, I do not want to stop the drilling I just want it done and over with ASAP so I can enjoy the home we purchased on a mostly one lane road that leads to two dirt roads.

The simple fact is that if one of these plants were to be built within a mile or even two of my home we would be forced to move. For me it is a simple matter of survival.

I feel bad for you Kathleen, I bet the gas companies don't. The science is there and the more drills and compressor stations and truck traffic you have the worse it's going to get. All justified by receiving money for it.
