Drove by the well in Belmont Co. off I-70 near St. Clairsville and they are flaring it today. I took a picture, but it didn't come out very well on my phone. Anyone been by there? would like to hear any thoughts from someone who may have seen flares before from Marcellus/utica. I believe that this is a vertical so I don't expect it to look as good as a horizontal.

You will need Google Earth installed on you computer to view it. You can click on the placemarkers to get links to the well documentation. If you take some photos I could add them to the map.
How soon until production data from this well is made available??
Permalink Reply by Philip Brutz on January 20, 2012 at 1:45pm I think that it will 1 year from this March?
Permalink Reply by Finnbear on January 22, 2012 at 8:35am I was in that area last Saturday when I went to Cabela's. I looked for the well site but missed it. What mile marker is it near on I-70?
Permalink Reply by KB on January 22, 2012 at 11:44am It is located roughly between the morristown exit and St. Clairsville (maybe closer to st. clairsville). No problem seeing it going East, but can be hard to see traveling west. Definitely close to alot of the S-G acreage. Sorry don't know the mile marker. they just started the flare mid week or so. It wasn't flaring when I went through on Tuesday either.
Permalink Reply by Finnbear on January 22, 2012 at 4:42pm That's probably how I missed it. I came up SR9 from my cabin and went to Cabela's and then came back I-70 to 800 and into Barnesville. I was probably already past it when I got on 70 and missed it coming back west.
I believe it is just west of the Rt. 331 Flushing exit, on the south side of Rt. 70. Same exit as the OU campus.
Permalink Reply by Inquisitive on January 31, 2012 at 2:23am folks, make sure your neighbors are aware of the 2007 leases that are expiring. Many folks will be able to start over with a brand new lease, DO NOT cash the delayed rental check until you have talked to someone in the know. Seek legal council, the renewal checks will accompany the letter. If you know someone who leased in 2007 tell them to stay alert,be prepared to negotiate. JRM

How can you renegotiate when the company has an option in the lease to renew for 5 more years? Doesn't that mean it is thier option, i know that if you don't cash the check that doesn't mean the lease is invalid. So what are you referring to? I wouldn't let them put thier option in mine in 2006, but i read what was crossed out and don't see a way out for people who agreed to extension. Please explain!
Permalink Reply by HMMMM! on February 6, 2012 at 2:08am No, they are at companies option, there is no choice for landowner if they included a renewal! Type of leases you are talking about weren't offered back then, because it was early and they wanted to get you locked up for 10 years! I was either lucky or dumb, either way i didn't give them the option to renew. Not sure what forming a group would do, but good luck, the leases that were signed by my nieghbors and friends have no way around company option. You must remember these were basically one page leases that left most things you are questioning wide open.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
