Today Carrizo Oil & Gas announced that it is entering the Utica Shale Play by way of a Joint Venture with Avista Capital Partners. There are 15,000 acres involved and Carrizo is paying $1,500 per  acre for ONLY 10% interest. You do the math. What would the value per acre be for 100% interest?

Ohio.com (Akron Beacon Journal) has started a new site for drilling stories. It looks like it may be biased against fracking, but let's see how it developes. See the link...

Note: The sponsors of the bill are all Democrats - the same party behind the tree-hugging USEPA, who by the way, wants to snuff out fracking. If that happens, ciao to horizonal drilling and your future gas/oil royalties. Remember, come November.

HISTORY REPEATS ITS SELF !!! The Windfall profits tax that screwed landowners by as much as 60%. A Carter Idea!  Senators  John Glenns Aid in a Zanesville meeting in front or orate landowners stated " Mr. Glenn did not know what he was voting on"  GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Nothing says capitalism more than a bunch of Beltway insiders determining profits.

Something to consider. See the link....

The Windfall Profit Tax was advertised at hitting the oil companies which it never did in the final product stage it was a tax at the well head where land owners were taxed as much as 60% upon their royalties!

There are signed leases in Ohio that have a clause that makes the Driller responsible for all such taxes. Hopefully, the clause is iron clad and it will actually protect the landowner if/when a Windfall Profit Tax law is passed.

The WPT was a Federal Law to my knowledge it trumped everything, I might be wrong, anyone experience the WPT  in the 80s I had.
