Going to throw this out for discussions.

As we all know we are all basically solitary in this new ball game. Of course there are Landowner groups that have formed for the benefit of the members but once the deal is cut and the checks come what happens to the group? There will be those that will be hold outs or even not interested in the possibility of a well or parts there of.

As it stands right now we have no voice to speak of. We hear the Ohio Oil &Gas Industry, we here anti fracking groups, we hear Health Departments getting their voice projected but only hear the keyboards clicking away when we post in here or fight in a blog.

This will not be a overnight here today gone tomorrow affair. The actions that take place will effect generations to come and we are a part of the forming of this boom.

I would like to suggest that we create a NON PROFIT 501 (c) (3) organization. As a non profit 501 (c) (3) we can advocate for or against ordinances, legislative matters that would effect our well being as property owners with rights. What is nice is donations made by us into our organization would be tax deductible.

Let me give a idea here. Say farmer Brown has not leased his land and is put into a position where they try to force his property into a pooled unit. Who will fight for farmer Brown? Will farmer Brown say hey I saw this company screw up my neighbors farm down the road and I want no part of them on my land. Is that not his right?

Will politicians try to slip a quick one upon landowners such as the Windfall Profit Tax under the Carter administration that was a well head excise tax where some land owners lost 60% of their royalty check?

Will our property taxes skyrocket when local politicians claim multi million dollar schools will improve education? Of course the downfall of massive increases in property taxes might mean seeing a close friend neighbor that can not reap the benefits of a well loose his property as a result.

Wouldn't it be nice to see a article in the Columbus Dispatch where OPOA voiced  our opinion as a voice to be heard?

Where if need be we could actually intercede possibly as friends of the court to help our cause.

We could do it.  What saith the property owners?

Billy, I am all for such a proposition, i was taking the long way around the barn in suggesting several different calls to action as a group over the last year.

My latest as you know was the idea about the credit union. I thought that would get us some attention from corporate america, and with that attention we would then have more of a voice and clout.

In retrospect there probably are several different easier ways to get the same result.

I just get so frustrated by the way we are made to feel insignificant and enslaved by the big business entity's of the world such as the banking industry, the insurance industry, oil and gas company's and utility company's. Whatever happened to treating the customer right, now it is just a slogan on a plaque on the wall.

If we were to join as a larger nationwide group, we would someday have the political clout to maybe keep more of our long overdo reward for caring for and nurtering the land for so many years. We have fed the world from our lands, the timber from our lands has fed the appetite for lumber and paper products, and the coal and minerals have been used in industry. Now the gas and oil will be taken from beneath our feet and the payment we receive is subject to theft by way of rogue politicians and the IRS.

All we really want is to pay our debts and improve on our operations so that the next in line will have more to work with, maybe with less of an ache in their bones and more time to spend with their family's. Yes i think we should take a little time and talk about how to set the wheels in motion for just such a thing and those of like mind can throw in with us as we go along.

Great Idea!

Thank ya I mean if we need a bit of a tax shelter we might as well design it for our benefit.

Here is a prime example of why!

Our activities include visits with legislators, meetings with state agencies, providing legislative testimony during bill and rules making hearings and connecting our members with their legislators. We also cooperate with various other public interest groups such as the Ohio Environmental Council.OFU’s 2011 state and national policy document is discussed and ratified at our state convention each January.

OFU also assists Ohio farmers in participating in programs such as the National Carbon Credit Program which rewards farmers who put carbon into the soil – taking the greenhouse gas out of the atmosphere. At the national and state levels, cooperation has also come to embrace the consumer more and more over the years.

Now see what their buddies advocate on fracking!
