This wont be the first time someone has mentioned the pro-drilling movie FrackNation on GMS. An article ran in the Ithaca Journal (NY), here is the link: http://www.theithacajournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=201220223...

It looks like they need to raise $150,000 to get the GasLand rebuttal to the finish line. According to the Kickstarter website they are now over $120,000. If we each donated $100 or more, they will probably reach their goal. The link to Kickstarter is: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1009530098/fracknation?ref=live

They only get your money if they reach the goal of $150,000.

Disclosure: I dont have any stake in this venture, dont know these people in any way. I am just hoping to move public opinion in the right direction. I hope they are successful.

You can, and many folks do,  file a lawsuit based on complete lies, in case you didn't know tanya.

Why is there this push to rebute Gasland?  It doesn't look like it's stopping the O & G companies.

Maybe because most of it is lies and based on lies.

I've spoken to the folks that are producing this movie.  They're the real deal.  I wish I could contribute, but they are not accepting donations from gas company execs so that they aren't accused of being funded by the industry.  Please, if you can, support this cause.

Can't wait for the finished product....should be good stuff from the sounds of it.  Kudos to everyone involved!

Last call for the FrackNation Kickstarter campaign. It ends in a little over 7 hours at 6a PT. Visit http://www.fracknation.com to contribute. Thank you!

Hi David, and happy Easter to all..

I read this discussion...and i still do not understand.   I do not understand the process...but I do know that when a shovel hits the dirt that the ground isn't the same...so when deep drilling is done....before the casing is put in...wouldn't that cause some difference in the different layers?  I know we have many discussions on this subject and of course I am a Lessor waiting for the fracing to receive royalties...yet I still am concerned.   You say there are NO actual documented proof

There are no documented occurences of fracing causing the contamination of a water aquifer

...yet I read this article found online and i see that the oil company did finally pay the individual (as it states) and they did have from what i read a very troubling situation....and still no fit water.  Wasn't there some documentation in all of their findings?  And it isn't just his water...read the article, they tried to drill another well to solve the drinking water problem...and look what happened when they did...Are we to believe that all of these stories are just made up??  Are the people who believe that all fracking is safe just ignoring all the reports by many that they are having drinking water problems?

http://www.hcn.org/issues/43.11/hydrofracked-one-mans-quest-for-ans...

so I cannot see how any of us can say one way or another whether it is safe or not safe...cause humans and equipment are involved in what GOD has made...and soil in different areas is not the same and not all terrain is rich in moisture or consistant as the weather conditions have something to add also.   The ground soils don't just always fit into an architect's rendering of the field survey.

just found this online...is this a lie also?

http://www.propublica.org/article/feds-link-water-contamination-to-...

what about this EPA pdf

http://www.epa.gov/region8/superfund/wy/pavillion/EPA_ReportOnPavil...

You know I like money also....and I surely hope they frac cause I would like royalty $ but I don't think we all should be taking a stand that fracing is completely safe cause we are worried that our states may pass moratoriums (thereby no one get $) but I think it is foolish to think these people are all making this up for what for GOD' sake?

Hi VG,

I based the statement:

There are no documented occurences of fracing causing the contamination of a water aquifer

Upon: http://www.energyindepth.org/just-the-facts/#groundwater-contamination

The EID people have been keeping track of reported contamination & the follow up.

As a landowner, I would like it both ways- fracing dollars and a safe environment. I dont want to contaminate my property & would hope all landowners would agree with that. To the best of my knowledge, I have not seen a single report of contamination originating from a deep, horizontal frac zone. There are some reports out there of shallow, well casing issues. These cases are in the initial, vertical well bore. These well bores exist in every drilling application. To say that contamination is caused by high volume horizontal fracing is disingenious. With the advent of this type of drilling, well pad spacing is greatly increased, lowering the number of vertical well bores. Based upon this, less opportunities for shallow water aquifer contamination. The antis are really just against fossil fuels, period. I would rather they complain about that then misrepresent facts.
