I live just West of Salem in Columbiana county and the seismic guys have been working around here quite a bit. At first we had Cougar land services doing the survey work and then we had Excel drilling going around drilling the holes for the explosives. Now we have Pathfinder Navigation walking around with a gps unit that is mounted on there back. These guys have Texas license plates and the one guy had a hard hat that said Shell Oil on it. We are leased with chesapeak. Do you guys think that these guys are really with Shell or did the one guy just happened to come across a Shell hardhat?

I think it was a left over hat. These guys just work for who hired them at that time. I stopped yesterday to talk to the pathfinder guys to ask about the giant antennae in a field. That was their gps link to home base. I guess they figure out different ways for different area's concerning the gps communication. It seems it is being done a little different here. Pathfinder is the second part and than comes the blasting. We are also leased through chesapeake and so is every other newly leased landowner in my area. I asked them where they were living and they said a Salem hotel but were looking to rent if I knew of a house. They are in Ohio for a year he told me so we should learn a lot about them soon. They also were from Texas. I believe if the company is scheduled to be here for a year working our state they should all have to change their tags on their trucks since that money funds our roads which they are accessing to make a profit. JMHO. These guys were a pleasure to talk to but had a heavy accent (tex-mex more toward mex) so I think you can just stop and ask them if it's Chesapeake or shell. I came right out and said I was nosey and trying to learn. I wonder if the guys working In the trucks from pathfinder would even know who is funding their checks.

I did talk to these guys yesterday and you are right, they do have an accent except for the one guy which seemed to be from around here.  I didn't ask them about being from Shell because I didn't think they would tell me anyhow. All three of them walked down into my pasture field yesterday and one walked back to the truck and left but never came back. I don't know where the other two went. Maybe they are still down in my field. LOL They did say that my area is going to be one of the first to have the blasting done. He said that there will be helicopters flying around during the blasting phase.

I honestly find this interesting. I never would have thought helicopters would be involved. I can tell they were working today here in center by the scenic vista park since now we have 3 color ribbons, blue and white, pink and white and now stakes with orange. It sounds like we are both on the same track.
I hope you don't find those guys next year in that field. Lol.
