Black Ridge already signing in our area...now a company called Braxton also has signed acreage...

I saw the other post in Ashtabula County asking about Black Ridge...figured this would be important also.  Black Ridge has already signed one large property in southern Ashtabula on Rt. 46, and have been contacting landowners between Rt. 46 and Rt. 193 to also sign them up.  Found out yesterday that a company called Braxton Acquisitions has signed several large landowners northwest of Kinsman in northern Trumbull/southern Ashtabula, headed towards the area being targeted by Black Ridge.  Braxton has also signed several large landowners in northern Trumbull in an area between Rt. 46 and Rt. 193, also headed northward towards the Black Ridge area.

Anyone know anything about Braxton?  More importantly, anyone know what O & G company they're leasing for?

BTW...not sure what the exact amounts were for in the Braxton leases...just was told that they are as good or better than the BP/ALOV offer...

Thanks, Joseph...but I saw that already...it's not the right one unless it's a branch of the one I'm talking about (couldn't believe they don't have a website!).  The one that signed landowners north of Kinsman is from Texas...found contact info for them, but as I said no website.  Mostly what I'm wondering is if anyone from anywhere else has signed through them and if they are being drilled on yet...

1st I heard of them was through your post.

I'll keep my ears on and eyes open.

Thank you as well Ed.

Info. is valuable.

Found other entries in business directories on the web for a Braxton in Texas:

Braxton Acquisitions LLC

3221 Collinsworth St

Fort Worth, TX 76107-6577

I keyed in: Braxton Oil & Gas, Texas

I haven't found a web page for them as yet either.

Are you saying that they are paying equal to or better than the $3900/acre that BP paid for 84K acres in Trumbull?  Thanks

Yes, Micheal...and from what I was told, the lease is about the same as the Trumbull/ALOV lease...

Are there rumors/stories of initial flow rates from any Ashtabula test wells that may have caused this new upsurge in leasing activity and prices?  Or, is this new price level being established as a continuation of the BP landmark price in nearby Trumbull last month for 84K acres?  Thanks

Might be the smaller guys are worried BP will invade Ashtabula county. Or they plan on flipping the new leases to PB or even EnerVest. Rumor has it the 3D testing EnerVest  did showed large oil reserves. Until some one actually gets a well online whats down their will all be rumor. Things are looking up...

Dan,I like that rumor,I check on Hayes Orangeville road every week, nothing happening yet, just surveyor stakes and dead vegetation. That sight is about 12 miles south of me.I'm in williamsfield.I'm anxious to see how that one come in !!!

Fokes, Go to the Ohio DNR website and you will see that no Utica wells have been permitted in Ashtabula County let alone drilled. The only activity is by companies that are drilling shallow wells and by companies that are looking to flip leases.

Not exactly true...Per May 16th article in Ashtabula Star Beacon, Enervest has drilled a test well that is doing core sampling...While not a production well, per se, it is an exploratory well which could reveal pivotal data on the properties of the shale.  So, perhaps no lateral wells have been permitted or drilled, but test wells have begun in Ashtabula.

John,

You may be waiting awhile on that well.  Carrizo has received the permit for the well, but they have no plans to drill there in the near future due to Trumbull County's road requirements.  They are going across the line to PA and drill a test well over there first.  If they get a good enough result to justify the cost of improving hayes orangeville road, then they will come back and drill at that site.
