Goes to show ya ,you cant judge the "SWEET SPOT" by where all the wells are being drilled. CHK. didnt want to pay $5900 & 20% for the sweet. wanting to drill where their investment was gonna be much less. Might turn out to bite em in the #@s. They &  the chinese probably know erxactly what they"re doing, though.   Keep your eyes on Guernsey & Harrison counties! Only time will tell.

Separate maps on the CHK and Gulfport August 2012 investor updates show the Utica "sweetspot" as a narrow band stretching SW from Carroll through NW Monroe Counties, and including most of Harrison, western Belmont and eastern Guernsey counties.

I thought the overlay map on Gulfport's presentation was the most interesting because it pictorially depicted the logic for the "sweetspot" with the various layers. Looks like they've done their homework.

Upon closer inspection the Gulfport-proposed Utica "sweetspot" also includes portions of Columbiana, Tuscarawas, Jefferson & Noble Counties. For reference, it is on page 11 of their August 2012 investor presentation. The "layered" map is the lower righthand of the four, and shows the "sweetspot" band in dark brown running down the center of the map from NE to SW. It is a composite of the other three maps.

I'm a novice. How does northern Washington county look? Thanks in advance.

Gang, when comparing wells, don't forget to consider the unit size. The Wagner well happens to cover 1277 acres vs the typical Carroll county well of around 200 so you can't directly compare the BOE/D until you do the math. Believe me, I'm happy for everyone and I think you will all get a nice piece of the pie over time.

According to Gulfport, peak production from the Wagner Well in northern Belmont County is 17.1 MMCF/day NG, 432 bbls/day "condensate" and 1881 bbls/day NGL's. Paraphrasing  Gulfport, "This assumes full ethane recovery and NG shrink of 18%". All that said, the Wagner well peak production is 4650 BOE/day, again according to Gulfport.

My own observation, assuming the numbers are "apples-to-apples" is that this well blows away CHK's Carroll County wells noted in MrytleB's post and even CHK's Buell well in Harrison County (not far from the Wagner well), which reported peak production of ~3000 BOE/day. Also, the peak NG production of 17.1 mmcf/day far exceeds any other reported Utica wells including Andarko's in Noble County. Analyzing reported peak production from wells in other shale plays, THE WAGNER WELL MAY BE THE BEST SHALE WELL EVER!! (at least, so far) Maybe we're getting near the real Utica "sweet spot".

Questions:

1. Are "condensates" valued as oil??

2. Can anyone explain Gulfport's statement, "assuming full ethane recovery and NG shrink of 18%" and how that relates to their reported numbers?

It would be nice if the producers were consistent in their reporting.

I thought the wagner well was in Harrison county, athens township??

Gulfport's map shows it right on the border of Harrison/Belmont. I didn't check the ODNR website. I've visited the well site, and it wasn't clear what county I was in.

Mytrleb every one I have spoken to around Lewisvill & Summerfield ohio Monroe county confirms it

A. H.

For what it's worth, both Lewisville and Summerfield would be in the "sweetspot" as depicted by Gulfport.

MrytleB, be careful when comparing wells without considering the size of the production unit.

Half of that Gulfport Wagner is in Harrison and the other half is in Belmont.
