Just was curious to hear of any activity going on in Venango county.  Anything from talks of leasing, to actually signing on the line of a lease.

What have the offers been for potential leases?  Any good addendums you were able to negotiate?

Has anyone heard how the completion went for the Seneca Resources well?

Hopefully 2012 will hold a lot more activity for this industry founding area.

Some were paid, some were not. I have no idea what percentage were paid. There are loots of theories as to why they pulled out....lack of money, low gas prices, moving to a more wet gas area, too much land already under lease, lack of infrastructure....probably a combination of all of the above.

I was just told yesterday by Shell that i will not be paid, and they are going to surrender my lease. See you at the meeting.

Great!  Bring any friends or neighbors that are interested.

I called and asked Shell to surrender my lease because I got tired of drafts being cancelled.  They were all too happy to comply and said the surrender should be recorded in Venango county within two weeks.

I don't hold a grudge with Shell.  I understand the market changed and they changed their strategy as a result. I wouldn't discourage anyone from entertaining any Shell offer they might receive.

Next time, however, I'll ask for the money when I sign, regardless of who that lessee might be.  No more of this draft nonsense.

Started drilling the conductor of a Brosius well for Chevron near Nickleville

Brian - what is the conductor?  Is this the inital well casing, and if so, how deep is it placed before drilling begins?   Thanks...

The big rig was stood up today on the Chevron Brosius pad near Nickleville today. Flashing red light can be seen from a long way away.

Do you know why the unit is so small?  My understanding for these types of wells was that they usually made larger units that were more like a rectangle.  Is this more of an exploratory well?

Jason,

If you look at page 3 of the pdf you will see the unit is roughly a rectangle. There are only 2 wells, so the unit, 293 acres, is sized with that in mind. Unless I am mistaken, they can increase the unit size in the future to facilitate the drilling of additional wells if Chevron is satisfied with the production of these two.

Brian,

Thanks for posting the well plats.

Doing an estimate on google earth from where the "landing" of the well is to the end of the hole I came up with a little over a mile.  From my understanding that's all the farther they drill laterally.  As Jason said they are only drilling 2 wells as of now.  It makes sense to see how those produce before spending millions more drilling.

Thanks for posting Brian.
