I was just in town getting gas when a Texan asked me where he could get a good steak for dinner. I never realized how tough of a question that really was. He said that he was heading to a drill rig 50 miles South, and was looking for a place to sit down with a good steak.

We went in, and had a conference with the cashiers. After some hard thinking we finally came up with BB Rooners 3 blocks away. We are in Salem, Ohio.

I have no idea if their steaks are any good, but that was all we could come up with at the time.

On the way home I started thinking that there have to be lots of Texans reading this site that might have the same question about where to eat. Maybe we can help the boys out, and name a few places that might remind them of a good Texas steak.

Just East of Salem on the edge of Washingtonville is Mason's Steaks. Never been there can't say how it is.

Heading East of Columbiana on route 14 is Bojangles Roadhouse. It has a big red sign on top that says BBQ & Brew.  Been there before, not bad.

A mile East of that in Unity Township is the Texas Roadhouse. Never been there, can't say how it is.

Anybody else, feel free to name your town, and help these guys find some good steak.

Mason's is great! and although its an Italian Restaurant Carrabba's in Boardman makes one of the best steaks we have ever eaten out.  Hands down better then the Steak House's in town! jmho  Fantastic waitress there goes by the nick name Frenchy! :)

Pondi's in Lisbon, Ohio and Pinky's in New Garden, Ohio. Both places are about 10 minutes from Salem and absolutely beat anything Salem has to offer.

Best steak in Eastern Ohio is at Abdalla's Steak House in Stratton. It's on State Route 7 between Steubenville and East Liverpool, just south of the power plant.

got a guy going over to work in the Meadville, PA area. Any info on restaurants, groceries, anything at all would be handy, thanks.

Deb: I'm from the Greenville area, 15 miles south of Meadville. When we head up to Meadville for dinner, we'll hit the Montana Steak House or Chovies, an excellent Italian place just down the hill off the Rt 79 exit heading east towards downtown Meadville. Heading west off that exit about 2 miles up the hill will be a commercial area with Montana, a small brewery with great sandwiches and a cool bar next to it. Also a movie theater in the same complex. Walmart not far. The Safari Bar and Grill past Allegheny College on the other side of town is a must see. Owner must have at least 100 taxidermy specimens there including an elephant's head. Pretty amazing. Don't know much about housing or grocery stores. But if you ever need help in the Greenville area let me know.

Thanks so much, Cecil! This was an emergency fill-in, the fella knows nothing of the area, and the subcontractor isn't much help. He's gonna be there a couple weeks at the very least. Great advice, thanks again!
