EnerVest Holding On To Ashtabula County Leaseholds (At Least For Now)

http://www.ohio.com/news/ev-energy-partners-negotiating-sale-of-103...

Just read this article attached to another post under General Shale Discussions.

Looks like EnerVest is holding on to it's 22,000 acres of leaseholds for now with the option to swap or sell later still on the table.

That to me translates into more delays

Mr. Fang,

Problem with that approach is that I'm not an Attorney or even a Professional 'Landman' - only a 'Layman Landowner'.

Wouldn't there be some sort of Governmental / Legal Credential / Registration / License required to get involved with Captaining a group of Landowners ?

If not, the tasking required to get the whole job done is not all that simple.

Perhaps (about as far as any individual  'Layman Landowner' could legally go) would be to talk to neighbors and together agree to hire an Attorney (a lucky group of Landowners would perhaps include an Attorney as a member).  The Attorney would pen the Leasehold Agreement then market it and the combined acreage for the group.

Anyway - the way things seem to stack up in my near geography - is that a couple of my immediate neighbors I believe are leased with EnerVest and / or Chesapeake (if Chesapeake hasn't already sold the leaseholds to EnerVest).  That's a serious complication.

Thanks for the encouragement however.

The best thing that could happen the way I see it would be if EnerVest would sell their Leaseholds to a Driller / Developer (always also IMHO).

I agree with Fang, Joseph.  You've shown yourself more than capable of running a landowner group.  Give yourself more credit.

Mr. Grayson,

Thank you also for the encouragement Marcus, but I have to ditto my reply to Mr. Fang in response.

Regards,

J-O
