Republican Party fusillade catches Western PA landowners by surprise - Shock and Awe!!

The entirety of the Republican Party has opened a full scale attack on PA landowners and royalty owners, but especially on those in Western PA.  This attack is called SB 259.  It will cost Pennsylvanians millions of dollars, money which will go straight into gas company coffers.  Here is a newspaper article explaining what has happened:

PA landowners come under sharp, unexpected attack!

SB 259 sits today on Governor Corbett's desk awaiting signature.  Contact him here:

Contact Corbett here - Tell him to veto SB 259!

If enough of us take action right now, this impending robbery can still be thwarted!!  But time is very, very short.  You must act now.  Tell Corbett to veto SB 259.

UPDATE!!

The gas industry culprit in this matter has now been revealed in this newspaper article:

Michael Killion is responsible for this catastrophe

This is the rankest, most vile form of thievery.  It is an effort to steal away from thousands of PA landowners their last, and their only, opportunity to participate in deep drilling while receiving a proper royalty.  And it is being done in order further to enrich the natural gas industry.

For God's sake, take a couple of minutes to contact Governor Corbett here:

Tell Corbett to VETO SB 259!

Do not allow the gas companies to get away with this.  If they do, it will form the basis for future "adventurous" legislation.  And next time it could easily, so easily, be YOU in the cross hairs!

Stand up for PA landowners.  Contact Corbett right now!

Hello fellow mineral rights owners take notice try to google this subject. Try to find news articles on it good luck and let us know what you find then ask yourself why?

At the bottom line, you are of course correct.

But right now, only Corbett can save our bacon.  This will be a great victory for the gas industry if they get away with it.  And it will encourage them to keep up the legislative pressure to steal from landowners whatever they can.

Frank,

I have e-mailed the Governor.

I hope others do.

Mark

Thanks.  I hope so, too.  Your approach is literally our only chance.  I don't want what has happened in Texas to happen here in Pennsylvania.  In TX, the O&G industry has been running the legislature and the courts forever.  If we Pennsylvania landowners don't speak out and fight back, we will be steamrollered.  The only power we have is in our numbers . . . provided enough of us take a couple of minutes and speak up.

Same goes for OH Mark.
Forced Pooling using old rules written for conventional vertical Wells
as a basis and in application to new long horizontal bore Utica Wells
renders landowner renegotiation / negotiation moot.
Should not be permitted to happen (IMHO).

I think we as landowners can't allow our legislation to make the mistake of over simplification in this instance.

In the interest of fairness, I think (IMHO) as follows:

1) Attempting to adjust and apply old rules and laws to new drilling techniques / methods is simply incorrect.  The existing rules and laws were generated in a different era and applied to the development of conventional wells.

2) New rules and laws need to be created for any new long horizontal / directional bore wells which traverse multiple properties.

3) New leasehold agreements should as a rule be required to be negotiated / re-negotiated to cover any new long horizontal bore wells which traverse and include multiple properties.

Carl Krebsbach you said it they fight between them selves to keep us from seeing whats realy going on.           THE          Gov. has   Srewed the tax payer from LBJ to Presant.Last good Pres. was JFK. AND THEY KILLED HIM. I believe in the trickle up system big busness has showed me they are to greedy to make the trickle down systen work.

Corbett sucks... he will sign for sure.. we are all screwed... http://www.philly.com/philly/news/politics/20130701_ap_26da994c47cc...

and wait til they "redefine" minimum 12.5 royalty payments... this beautiful wooded, and farmed state is basically being raped... along with all us rural land owners... raped by outsiders from texas, oklahoma, india, china, british petroleun, and i am sure some of our "friends" in the middle east... i hate it... almost make ya wish this windfall jackpot wasnt there... can we call the governor? does his majesty's office accept calls?

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett will be thrilled to receive your telephone call regarding SB 259 at his Central Office or at any one of his several Regional Offices.

The telephone numbers for all of Governor Corbett's offices can be found here:

Telephone Governor Corbett regarding SB 259 - Make his day!

Light up his telephone lines starting first thing Monday morning!  Tell our beloved Governor to veto this legislation that will cost honest, hard-working Pennsylvania landowners tens of millions of dollars!!!!!! . . . . . . . . especially those in Western Pennsylvania!!

Frank,

Greta idea.

I know people don't believe that phone calls work but they do.

Come folks light up yhr phone lines.

Well, you're right!  I didn't push the telephone call angle in the OP because for some folks it's an extra expense you don't incur with the internet contact option.  But I agree with you a telephone call is more effective and carries a lot more weight.

Pity is that so many Pennsylvanians, especially those landowners living in Western Pennsylvania, are completely unaware of what has happened and totally unaware of their pocketbook vulnerability.  The vast majority of landowners does not participate here.  And newspaper articles relating to this bill portrayed it as extremely landowner friendly . . . . . which it was until the poison pill was inserted at the final second.

This bill followed every last rule for dirty law making.  The level of misdirection here is off the charts and just amazing.  How is the average landowner to deal with this kind of dishonesty and infamy?  I really don't know.  I'm sure many more landowners would contact Governor Corbett if they only were aware of the threat.  But they are not aware and that is by design and was carefully planned by the gas companies.

If Corbett signs this into law, most landowners will first learn about it when they seek to re-negotiate their lease and are told "no", it's against the law.  That's a little late to be of help to the average person.  This stinks so bad you can smell it in Philadelphia!
