What's going on in your area?? any info???

Just curious...

     I am in Liberty township and a few months ago got an offer to buy my royalties for 1500 to 1800 per acre, but they would do a more in-depth look if I was serious which "mite change the numbers" slightly....even tho I am not drilled or receiving any royalties ..talked to a landsman rite b4 I contacted them and he advised caution as there will be "significant" activity in my area in the "near future"....how about it, anybody else get an offer or hear anything or see any activity here in Tioga Co. ?

 Sharretts is about 10 miles S.W. of Neals.It looks to me that Shell is testing the perimeter's and production of the Utica shale.

 Ann I heard that was the route they had to take to get to Liberty.Its the same with the trucks coming out of those sand towers on RT.287 in middlebury they can't drive through Wellsboro they have to go north and head south on RT 15 to go to the South side of Wellsboro.

I think the load I saw came from either Rutland/Sullivan in TC or Bradford County.  I was stopped in town at MU on 6, going East, while the load went by, going West. I assume it was headed through the light, to the interstate or West on 6.

They do make these things harder than they need to be.  Instead of getting some flagmen out ahead of the load to stop or move traffic over, they let it jam up.

Oh, a couple years ago I got a few letters but, offers were not realistic. I'd wait it out.

I can't imagine that all of the support industry being built all over the state is not getting ready for something big. Here in Blair Co. they, Marcellus GTL LLC of Gilberton, are building a natural gas to liquid and gasoline plant to be ready for production in two years. Construction to begin in the Spring. We know that prices are down, that other parts of the world(Japan and Indonesia) are interested in natural gas, we know that exporting will cause a jump in prices-always does. So I guess the best question is "How long can you or do you wait it out?"

Agreed that it sounds promising, but afaik there is not yet any commercial small-scale GTL facility in production.

question for jack young....

what is your opinion on the Utica drilling going on in tioga county?

is it poke and hope? or are they on to something?

yes I know Josie, paleface and I talk often about this on the phone and in person. I will admit to being skeptical that shell had even drilled the Utica until he showed me the plat maps. I live in s.e. Bradford county, where Chesapeake has tested the Utica extensively, but has yet to drill a production into it as far as I am aware. my tioga county land sits among lots of producing shell Marcellus wells as well.

this Utica development has me intrigued to say the least.

i sure hope that those Utica wells pan out. you and paleface will be sitting smack in the middle of it if they do.

time will tell, and i don't think that shell will say much about it until they know for sure. that could take a while. they need production to determine the amount of gas, and a couple of months wont give them enough data.

it might seem that they're being elusive, but there are prohibitions on them talking up their wells without sufficient data to back it up. the s.e.c. frowns on companies doing that.

It certainly started as "poke and hope" in northern Tioga County, as that area wasn't considered very promising by anyone. Shell had lots of leases there with little hope that the Marcellus would be profitable at current gas prices, so decided to see if the acreage had any other value before their position expired.

Right now I'm cautiously optimistic that there may be a play in the Utica, although whether it impacts a wide area, a narrow band or is just an isolated occurance isn't known to anyone. (Probably not even Shell at this point.) Finding gas isn't the same thing as discovering a profitable and repeatable set of drilling opportunities, and that's where the core Marcellus areas have really excelled. I've been in the business long enough to understand how rare that is, so am going to wait and see how this turns out before making any firm commitments about the quality of the Utica in Tioga County.

isn't the Utica usually the source for oriskany gas?

No, that's the Marcellus. The Utica is the source rock for the Trenton-Black River.
