Traveling east on 88 and saw a 'Rice' pick up truck followed by a larger truck - both westbound just outside of Bristolville.

Anybody have any info on Rice in Trumbull County ? ?

checking out BP's Morrison well?

Perhaps Morrison.

It had a small flaring flame visible today.

There's a few wells in the vicinity however.

The Jewett and the Lennington on 193 come to mind also.

Saw no activity at the Jewett.

The Lennington isn't visible from 193 as far as I can tell (as we continued north on 193 from 88).

There have always been rumors of BP pulling out of Trumbull County.

This will only fuel those rumors.

There are several Rice names associated with the O&G industry. What was the exact name on the vehicle.

The reason I ask is that Rice has announced it is going public in order to raise $800 million. They plan to spend $1 billion in 2014. Perhaps Trumbull County figures into it's development objectives for 2014.

Again this is all speculation and we should be sure of the name on the vehicle.

All I could catch as we passed each other was RICE (all caps).

Maybe RICE is a sub to BP ?

We crossed paths near the Morrison well Mark.

It was a white pick up with blue lettering if that helps to identify.

Brammer developed the Morrison well per the notations that appears on the ODNR Well Locator pages.

Maybe Brammer works with (hires RICE as a sub) ? ?

Maybe RICE bought the Morrison well from Brammer ? ?

Don't believe BP is at all involved with the Morrison (but is involved with the Lennington and Jewett up on 193).

Just guessing out loud.

Joseph,

Brammer works for BP.

The Rice Energy logo is blue but has a flame between the words Rice and Energy.

Passed each other pretty quickly and was only able to catch the word RICE (all caps) - didn't notice any blue flame logo work or other lettering (on driver's side door of pickup - but there may have been - but if so - smaller compared to the word RICE).

Didn't think we were coming off as wildly excited - didn't intend to - that's for sure.

However, we are of a curious sort and very interested in gas and oil well development in our geography.

Thanks for the info. on Rice Energy, although we're not at all interested in a low dollar offer from any O & G E & P.

You folks in PA are years ahead of us here in OH and I for one landowner hope we can learn from some of the abuses / trespasses inflicted on PA landowners and find ways to not let it happen to us.

What County in PA do you hail from BTW ? ?

Thanks again R. Way.

Joseph,

The folks in PA are not years ahead of us in OH. They signed for peanuts with bad leases. We here in OH are beating the best leases out of these O&G companies. No need to apologize to anyone.

Thanks for all info. Mark.

Also thanks for backing up my reply to R. Way.

Wasn't intentionally apologizing Mark.

My intentions were more along the lines of a polite clarification, as it seemed R. Way misinterpreted our dialogue.

Joseph,

No need to clarify with me, I know your intentions are always for the best.

The misrepresentation by that person is due to jealousy. Instead of being pleased that we have learned from their past mistakes we are attacked .

Fortunately, many landowners in PA that were signed to bad leases have the opportunity to renegotiate as those leases expire. Should we not be pleased if they do better ? Of course. I hope they do better than we do, it's a piggy back effect. Hopefully we get to the point where in some places in TX they are offering $30,000 an acre.

We should all rejoice in the success of our fellow landowners. There should be no room for negativity such as jealousy.

Peanut Lease,

We here in Ohio have learned from your mistakes. That is why I and others such as Joseph preach patience and caution when negotiating a lease.

There is no rule that land owners in Ohio must make the same mistakes as any who have leased before. Why not be pleased that we have learned instead of deriding us ?
