Long wells Harrison county.......can this be right?......3 wells with lateral spacing at 250'?......they could pack 7 wells in this 416 acre unit (9 wells if the state relaxes the 500' standoff).....and these are 7,000' laterals!....they show recently drilled........good to see chk trying some different completion techniques.....will be interesting to see production numbers..........this is the tightest spacing i have seen.

Atlas' nearby Reese/Cramblett wells are at 450' spacing there should be some production data on those for 4th qtr.........a bunch of others are at 500' or more..........but 250' is tight.....super tight.

In a many  cases a bulldozer and a couple of dump trucks can be a HBP just as well as a drill rig, there are a lot of them around that lock in hundreds of acres.

Horizontal wells 250' apart.  Hmm.  This suggests that the well can only efficiently draw gas from about 125 feet away!  That's interesting.

MY FAMILY IS PART OF A 640 ACRE UNIT ....THERE IS A WELL DRILLED ON IT NOT UNDER OUR LAND BEEN IN PRODUCTION 6 MONTHS .....WE NEVER RECEIVED  ANY DIVISION ORDERS AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY ROYALTIES OFF THAT WELL.....THE WELL IS DRILLED SOUTHG OUR ACCREAGE IS TO THE NORTH

One of the biggest challenges ahead for the reservoir engineering and field development teams is determining the drainage of each of the laterals in a unit.

The biggest risk is spending money to drill laterals into already drained rock or into such low permeability rock ("tombstone") that can't produce any more gas. This creates economic waste, which the regulatory agencies try to prevent.

Many times I've seen more wells added to a reservoir structure ("another straw in the pot") to get a short term production buzz. More often than not, the well to well pressure interference exacerbates well decline from the new well and the other wells in the pressure influenced area.

Adding more laterals, especially in units with an incomplete full picture of rock mechanics and production info, is not the end all. It often creates big problems with drilling and completion issues and promotes further economic waste.
