Does anyone hear anything about fracking in New York?

I am in Marcellus in NY and frustrated ! We have waited over 5 years while Cuomo awaits reelection. I am interested in any insight into if and when we will ever get fracking in NY. Appreciate any input.

This is who New Yorkians made their governor. New Yorkers like to bend over and take it over over again. My brother lives in long Island. pays $40k a year for property tax. I asked him, Are you on drugs?. My brother replied " but we have good  schools."

Andrew Cuomo, the youngest Housing and Urban Development secretary in history, made a series of decisions between 1997 and 2001 that gave birth to the country's current crisis. He took actions that—in combination with many other factors—helped plunge Fannie and Freddie into the subprime markets without putting in place the means to monitor their increasingly risky investments. He turned the Federal Housing Administration mortgage program into a sweetheart lender with sky-high loan ceilings and no money down, and he legalized what a federal judge has branded "kickbacks" to brokers that have fueled the sale of overpriced and unsupportable loans. Three to four million families are now facing foreclosure, and Cuomo is one of the reasons why.

What he did is important—not just because of what it tells us about how we got in this hole, but because of what it says about New York's attorney general, who has been trying for months to don a white hat in the subprime scandal, pursuing cases against banks, appraisers, brokers, rating agencies, and multitrillion-dollar, quasi-public Fannie and Freddie.

         The Farm And Dairy news paper from Salem Ohio just had an article on NY drilling in the 6/12/2014 weekly Issue. It will probably show up on their website next week after the issue is sold out. I skimmed through the article before I saw your question and my general opinion was nothing new for now except they mentioned most of the drilling will be in the southern part of the state if/when the drilling ban is lifted. Take a look.

Also, I did a google search for NY drilling and got the below website which says no permits will be issued in 2014. They must be making a lot of money off of the landowners with real estate taxes and "don't need no oil & gas tax money". Good Luck Sandra.

There is news this morning regarding Sandra's OP:

Legislation is being introduced in NY which would postpone any fracking until 2017.  Other, separate, legislation is being introduced which would legalize (formerly) illegal aliens for NY State purposes.  Why does this matter?

It matters because, under the legislation, the illegals would have the right to vote in NY State elections.  We all know how they would vote, and they would not be supporting candidates who favor drilling for natural gas anywhere in NY.

The illegals would also be granted NY State driver's licenses, BTW, under the proposed legislation.  As one who frequently drives in NY, that's a worry for me personally.

If either of the above measures clears the NY Legislature, you know Cuomo will sign the next day.  The embrace for illegals will prove to be a magnet for them.  New York people had better learn to speak Spanish, PRONTO!!

At least you can feel secure that none of the new citizens will be carrying handguns, as that is illegal in NY.

that nothing new NJ permits illegals to get a legal drivers license. NJ is also a safe harbor state. if an illegal can get there they can live without fear of deportation. NY may be the same.  NJ NY illegals are the norm. Mexicans work and run everything for their bosses from landscaping to Pizza to construction. If NY NJ deported illegals the states would fall off a cliff. In NYC some parts of Brookly are like being in Russia. Other parts are like being in ASia. I have no problems with Mexicans or illegals as long as they aren't causing crime. Most are quiet and hard working just trying to feed their kids.  They are human just like me.

Even here many South Americans are working on the oil rigs

Indians are the  worst drivers.

I haven't been on here in a week or so and I am literally laughing my arse off reading the comments about "Noo Yawk" - OMG, I deal with some of them every day.  When that 212 area code comes up on the phone, I often cringe from what I know will usually be an unhappy person on the phone.  Why are they unhappy?  Because no one but miserable sons of bitches live in that god forsakin' shithole called NYC.    Seriously - you cannot do ANYTHING there without some rule or law or toadie power hungry jackwagon wanting to tax you or regulate you or squeeze SOMETHING out of you there.    I really don't know what the fascination is with it.

I need to write a book.   The people who call for transportation and they think that we are close to the "Richmond airport" - So you mean Richmond, VIRGINIA?     "Yeah, what is your best town car feya for that?"     OK, you DO realize you are calling WEST VIRGINIA, right?     There was this event called the CIVIL WAR, and this state split away from Virginia?   Because we are about 7 hours away?   

Or the college kids with mommy and daddy who have offices in Manhattan and daddy agrees to pay for little Sally to get a ride but then little Sally brings along FOUR FRIENDS and we explain that "This isn't what your father agreed to pay for" - and little Sally throws a fit and pouts and says daddy will be fine with it.   And then daddy gets mad LATER because no, he didn't agree but will pay this one.  CONTROL YOUR DAUGHTER!!!!

I believe you will have to wait another year atleast.  Andrew Cuomo, like his father before him, wins as Govenor by taking the five bouroughs of NYC and Albany County.  He does not want to lose in NYC because then he would lose as Govenor and Andrew only cares about one thing, himself.  He also has National political aspirations, if he wins a bid to run then we need to worry about his replacement.  If he loses a bid for higher office then we need to hope that he lines up a feather bed job with a major oil company and he okays gas drilling/fracking before he switches from the public to private sector.  If he decides to stay on as Govenor then the cycle will repeat itself every four years until he bails out.  Owning property in NY is like having a lottery ticket where they have not yet picked the drawing date.

Point taken.  You're right.  I did forget about Hawaii.  Shouldn't have given Obama, if he's from anywhere in the USA (not sure), is from there.  And he's on the job every day by 10:00 AM.

I once had a guy from Hawaii working for me . . . as a contract employee.  He was a likable enough chap and he did his work OK.  But he was probably the most mellow and laid back dude I ever have met.

That is interesting news, though not surprising.  All hope should not be lost.

Obviously Cuomo will remain in office (sorry).  But with Democrats across America having made such an incredible hash of virtually everything, with across the board failures, there is hope in November for suppression of Democrat voters and enhancement of those in opposition . . . . . even in New York.  This could mean possibility for Republicans to assert New York State Senate control by natural means, i.e., without resort to any coalition.  However:

While I do not foresee any Republican NY State Senate members joining with Democrats to oppose natural gas development, it's important to recall history.  In the recent past, some NY Senate Republicans have been unreliable allies on certain other issues coming before the body.

When it comes to Republicans in NY State, I do not trust them.  Too many are despicable RINOs!!
