How does income from royalties affect Social Security?   It is not earned income, so does it have any affect at all?

Susan,

Now if you wait and continue to work until, lets say 85 for example, the amount of money in your SS account would be phenomenal.

Yea, everyone is working longer these days. Well, except for the ceos who are all retiring early on what would have been your salary, your benefits, and your childrens jobs had the ceos not been so greedy, but I digress.

I know of people who died on the job, gave it all for the giper and left that SS money for those that never paid in to SS, like those hyperactive boys on SS due to their disability induced by their parents serving up unlimited amounts of Mt Dew before the drs appointment.

Let that SS ride there in your account, on account of when we need money to finance another war it will still be there for us to steal, I mean borrow, without any intention of paying it back. Like the last 4 Trillion borrowed.

Remember SS is an entitlement, even though you were forced to participate while the gov built something better than SS for gov employees golden years.

I wish we could find the gov employees stash, we could start the Mother Of All Wars in the middle east with that kind of cash, if we could just figure out what they called it. I heard it called Better Than SS by a few gov employees.

Ha. ha. too funny!

Thanks Ann.

I can recommend FERS to the politicians next time they need to finance some time bombing in the middle east.

I'll also recommend they don't pay it back in all fairness to the SS folks who have paid in while someone who didn't participate was drawing it out quietly for all those in need including the military.

From what I have seen the Retired Gov Folks are out of the country a lot and really love the status quot. They ask us SS folks, What? You don't like the way the gov is being run. They are out of the country spending their FERS most of the time. If they stayed in the US a while they would never ask me whats wrong?

Do Gov Employees pay anything into their plan or do I fund it with my taxes?

Now that's a stupid question, why would anyone who had access to tax money ever need to spend their own money to finance their golden years. Let me guess, Gov Employees don't pay into their plan, Right?
