I wish Keith would take away the ability here in the Beaver County area to post a new discussion in the general area. Twice I've posted to the wrong place.... maybe it is just me.
Anyhow, here is the post incase you don't check out the general forum.
I just noticed this on the DEP site, maybe I've been missing it all along or it is new. If you haven't been there it is worth looking at for the giggles of it. Utica is listed the most, but others surprised me a bit.
Going here: http://www.depreportingservices.state.pa.us/ReportServer/Pages/Repo...
will let you select criteria for viewing the target formations of all wells reported, even those not drilled it appears. I don't know if the list is complete, but it appears that way.
The list of target formations so far in Beaver County reads like this: Utica, Marcellus, Trenton Limestone, Rhinestreet, Onondaga, and last but not least Point Pleasant.
Very interesting! I knew they had a few formations to explore/produce and this solidifies the thought.
Now if we only knew what they think is down there in those other formations we would be golden : )

I've been to that section of the DEP site before. Not sure how useful it is?

Knowing that there are possibly 6 formations or even more under our feet that could be profitable for the drillers is huge. To my knowledge (and i'm not a geologist) there are no other areas in our country that have this possibility.
Just think about it: Build out infrastructure once and produce from 6 formations on ONE well pad. That is phenomenal and cheap......and could last for decades and decades.

Permalink Reply by craig on August 20, 2014 at 3:51pm Todd, I have always tried to add to the info available here at GMS and I'm glad you have also done so for some time now. For awhile I thought GMS was losing it's appeal to me, but discussions here ebb and flow just like other boards so I'm here for the long run.
I never realized there were other areas with stacked plays. Looking forward to your link about the stacked plays.
Thanks for the input you give to this board.

Here you all go! See pages 2 and 4 (slides 23 and 25) of the attached analyst presentation!
Thank you for all of your input on this board as well - we work together as a unit. :-)

Permalink Reply by industry resident on August 22, 2014 at 6:04am sold not leased- I think that once in production that acreage could easily bring that money back in 5 years or so

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
