was up in Buffalo area over the weekend, $2.79 gal

Just came back from  Manalapan,NJ   I filled up for$ 2.12 /gallon. most  of the stations were at $2.19 /gallon regular cash and full serve. NJ only has full serve and they have different prices for cash and credit. Diesel is at $2.47

Isn't that a shame?? We are a supplier of oil and gas and the liberal state of Chris Christie sells fuel cheaper. Ohioians are being robbed by their  government.

Funny when oil is 100+ per barrel the refineries don't have problems.

I'm thinking it isn't exactly funny o- it's more like a rip-off.

Probably more refineries serving New Jersey / New England States than in the Great Lakes region.

Chicago has one refinery down / off line that I read about a little earlier.

$2.39 in Tampa, FL yesterday. We live in DeLand, about 18 miles from Daytona Beach and the price here is $2.23.

I say same like I replied to adam sorell just above.

A refinery goes down for maintenance in any given service area and all they have to do is jack up the price per gallon to offset their 'losses'.

Why spend the money to fix it when a no cost alternative remedy exists ?

Given a like set of circumstances / options would you ?

Test the market served by the refinery to see what the (captive) market will bear.

When the refinery is repaired maybe they'll leave the price elevated and gleen greater profit forward.

I don't know - just my best 'business guess'.

Of course we see gasoline prices just about every day, not many look beyond it.  

Have you seen a 50% drop in a qt of motor oil, hydraulic fluid, fertilizer, shipping charges, or airline fares? Of course not.
