What is this? These are the market prices paid to Utica royalty owners as reported by royalty owners across the states of PA, OH and WV.

This was ShaleCast's first such survey--we released the results a couple weeks ago to ShaleCast users. We had over 500 participants, so the sampling size was really good. The more participants the better our survey results!

If you would like to get these reports in a timely matter, we encourage you to forecast your well on ShaleCast. Members who add their price detail automatically receive these updates.

I did not understand Shalecast when I tried it. I thought it would use information already know on wells around me to project an estimate of my royalties from the unit I am in which is scheduled to go into production in April.

Anyhow, looking at those numbers I would be thrilled with most of them although it would be beneficial were your reports to include average WTI and natural gas prices we see reported for comparison to what we are being paid.

I think this tool will be very helpful to us all in the future. It will be lovely for folks to be able to arrive at some sort of estimate of the value of their royalties before they sell them for 10 cents on the dollar.

David, the first thing a user needs is a producing well--an account begins with a search for a well by it's name. It sounds like that has yet to happen for you. Is that right?

The system by default does use NYMEX and WTI, see this FAQ - https://shalecast.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/211587417-What-are-...

From that price used, it is adjusted based on input from the royalty owner.

Yes Keith, I incorrectly assumed the site would work other than how it does. The pad which will produce product for the unit I am in is currently being set up although there is no pipeline as yet for the natural gas. I am in no hurry and would prefer they wait on a price recovery before putting us in production. The other part of my comment concerns a price comparison showing what royalty owners were paid versus the price quoted by NYMEX for the same time period. We are constantly told how we will be stolen from and underpaying in house versus reported market prices is a common theme. I don't think folks sometimes understand there could be other factors at play. Thank you for responding in a helpful manner.
