Counter-argument to the "leave it in the ground" proponents.........Please share

Thanks to the technological miracle of “fracking,” America now has the proven reserves to be the world’s number one producer of oil, number one producer of natural gas, and number one producer of coal. Imagine what that would be like for America’s own economy to include the world leading industries of all three of these crucial sources of energy.

America would then be the Saudi Arabia of oil, the Saudi Arabia of natural gas, and the Saudi Arabia of coal, all within just one economy. That would mean hundreds of thousands of good paying, blue collar jobs in those three industries alone.

But the mighty rivers of reliable, low cost energy those three industries would produce would also mean the renaissance of world leading American manufacturing, because manufacturing thrives on reliable supplies of low cost energy. That would add up to millions more good paying, blue collar jobs, and the revival of America’s world leading middle class. America would be great again!

In a new study, Heritage Foundation economist Steve Moore estimates the market value of America’s proven reserves of oil and natural gas alone as 50 trillion! That is more than three times America’s entire economy, and three times all of America’s national debt.

But the geniuses at 350.org, led by Middlebury College Professor Bill McKibben, think they have a better idea for all of that oil, natural gas, and coal. Leave it in the ground!

They want to deny America the modern energy that fueled the industrial revolution, and forcibly shift 100 percent to windmills and sunbeams to power today’s modern American economy. 350.org is leading a coalition of environmental activist groups in sponsoring a series of “Break Free From From Fossil Fuels” training sessions and protests nationwide this month.

That fits perfectly the thinking of today’s modern Democrat Party, which used to think of itself as the champion of blue collar workers. Not any more. Democrats today like Hillary Clinton have new hip friends, like crony socialist billionaires posing as renewable energy moguls reaping billions in taxpayer corporate welfare.

McKibben went to jail in 2011 for the murder of the Keystone XL pipeline, even though co-conspirator and fellow career rabble rouser Barack Obama got away scot free. A former staff writer for New Yorker magazine, he is the author of the 1989 book The End of Nature, which McKibben’s website brags “is regarded asthe first book for a general audience about climate change.” Substantively, however, the book is simplistic, emotional, unreasoned, hysterical propaganda.

But the book developed into quite a shtick for Professor McKibben. His website further brags that his co-conspirators at Foreign Policy “named him to their inaugural list of the world’s 100 most important global thinkers.” But McKibben is actually the world’s leading Lysenkoist (Google “Lysenko”).

The name of McKibben’s organization, 350.org, derives from a statement from the fevered James Hansen, formerly of NASA, that the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere (alleged source of global warming which results from burning fossil fuels) is 350 parts per million. Years ago, the atmospheric concentration of CO2 marched past 400 parts per million.

Yet, U.S. satellites measuring atmospheric temperatures 24/7 have found no global warming for 19 years now. During those 19 years, mankind has produced one-third of all CO2 emissions since the industrial revolution began in the 18th Century.

Soon, the period of no global warming will be longer than the period of actual global warming, which lasted only 20 years, from the late 1970s to the late 1990s. Before that was 30 years of global cooling.

Global temperatures have not varied with human emissions of CO2, but with longstanding cycles of natural causes, primarily heat circulation cycles in the oceans, and cycles of solar activity, such as sunspots. Both indicate we are entering a new decades long cycle of pronounced global cooling, similar to theLittle Ice Age which prevailed from about 1350 A.D. to 1850 A.D.

how kind, Joseph, but unfortunately, you'd have to build a wall anyway. Across Mexico's southern border, not our own--because the flood of refugees/illegals/etc coming in there (and by water) is as bad, I understand, as our own.

And don't send my boys (Nat'l Guard) anywhere like that. Because the cartels have so much money, power, and ruthlessness, we'd build that wall on coffins and flags. I've been to one too many military funerals. No thanks. YMMV.

Thank you and your loved one(s) lost.

None of us should ever forget any of them and to say at least that to all family members who love and survive them.

Incidentaly, I wrote of a (much smaller) wall at the isthmus in my earlier reply as well.

BTW, noticing my mileage certainly does vary as does that of everyone else posting here and groping for solutions to complex problems plagueing all of us.

Also BTW, I wasn't trying to be kind - I was trying to post an intelligent and thoughtful idea or two.

Good luck to all of us as the more I read here the more I realize that we all need it.

we do! thank  you for your thoughtful posts and decency--sometimes sadly lacking on this site. Yes, I noticed the wall at the isthmus--kind of a neat idea, except for all that water-border we'd gain--and we can't keep them out by water all ready. I love intelligent and thoughtful discussion, but am often too tired or busy to contribute coherently.

Joe, Deb, and other caring Americans,

The question is not whether or not Americans care. The question is how do the citizens of the USA affect change on the National level?

We can all sit here and post the obvious things that need to,change: term limits for house/senate, campaign finance laws, lobbyist limits w $$$, pacs/superpacs are just a few of the major conflict of interests which turn good people who get elected into narristic, rich elites when they leave.

Is it a national petition? Is it to stop spending money @ certain stores?

We know elected officials do not care about the citizens. How does it change?

With political parties and money as closely associated as they are, it's hard to say how to correct it.

Sanders talks a good game against that association but he also talks negatively on O & G Development; which to me, is difficult to understand; since, O & G Development and it's associated jobs, coupled with using more cleaner burning Natural Gas would elevate so many via job creation thereby growing our economy and improving our standard of living and worldwide stature.

JMHOs

My Grandfather... killed Mexicans.. all the way from the Rio Grande to Mexico City

in 1916.. with Pershing....

That settled that little problem then....

We don't need ANYTHING.... from Mexico... nothing.... period.....

American Nationalism is the only way to fix the problems......

We don't need anything... from China... Nothing... not one item...... Nothing....

We armed the Chinese at the end of WW2 and  good ole Ho chi Min... took over....

We only need to  SELL PRODUCTS..... to ourselves... and very little needs to go

over seas.....

We can sell food items......over seas....

We need to CONSUME.... items.. HERE........go to work.. create items... and sell

them to your neighbor.......he in turn.. goes to work... and makes items.. and sells them

to you.......

When you make "items" and sell them over seas.....whats left for YOU.. .to consume..??

Chinese junk.. that's what.....

Its very simple......

Make the streets safe....then bring in Industry... put people to work.....

If you don't work... you don't get FREE STUFF.....

if your truly handicapped.... Trump will take care of you.....

Otherwise... Work.. or starve.....

WE need NOTHING.... from any other Country... Nothing.......

Trump... he don't smoke.... he don't drink... he doesn't do drugs........must be

something wrong with him...   :)

Nuke the Middle East.. and everyone else will fall in line.......

After a rain, go outside and take a good whiff of the once sweet air. The last two rains have washed burned fossil fuels out of the air. Must be the Kensington Plant burning off some of the gas from the NGLs they are processing.

When the Cracker Plants start up the air will be full of tons of emissions from the factory.

Take a trip across the Route 22 bridge from Ohio to WV, turn south and after a few miles down Route 2 stop at the local fast food chains, or better yet roll up the window and maintain the speed limit South to Wheeling. At some point the air will clear.

I have a hard time dealing with the fact that humans are living in the area with the Carbon Plant. I guarantee you that no one will be doing a Cancer study in that area since they won't be able to sweep the results under the rug or find another cause for what is going on.

Welcome to the Oil & Gas Industry, placing profits before human life. That may have worked in Texas and Louisiana, but in the East which is highly populated, the people will eventually win out over the Big Oil.

You can count on this.

Mineral right ownership is a private property issue.   Large unrelated groups with no ownership in your property ( i.e. ,Soros, moveon.org. anti-drilling groups etc., ) are trying to negatively influence your ability to sell, lease, or beneficially use your private property, and that is a dangerous and serious issue to the mineral owners' and their families well being.

Is it your property to use as you may determine, or is it someone else ?

(It is not about individual companies who may or may not uphold and fulfill the terms of the contracts.)

Problem is every landowner isn't equipped to say drill / develop a gas / oil well (for instance).

Enter the E & P and associates along with all the issues / problems , legalities, etc.; and of course aggravated by politics.

Over the past six years or so, how many millionaires have been created in Carrol county?

TMP,

' ......how many millionaires have been created in Carrol county? '

Would like to know for curiousity's sake but I'm gonna' submit - not enough friend.

Why stop in Carrol County ?

Let's keep the ball rollin' ! !

Roughly 300 new millionaires in Carroll county, smaller numbers in Harrison, Belmont and Guernsey.  I wonder where this wealth is coming from.
