This article brings to light some discussions I've had with my spouse lately. The roads in Tioga Co. are a mess. I'm wondering if the NG industry and side contractors are being held responsible for some of the road conditions are is the county having a cash flow from these companies to repair these roads. It seems any profit from the NG industry might go back into repairs to many enviromentally damaged areas.

Well said, Chuck.  Most states would kill for the opportunity that PA has.

IF ppl knew about the other gifts.  The piles of gravel, ditch pipe, and little things done by the industry for the small road masters... they would think diffrent. The sad fact is that such gifts turned into political cards when the masses find out.

But if a company man says to a quarry, "send 4 of those loads of 2B to X-township and bill it to us", then every person in town will want a load of gravel in there drive way.

Does anyone know what percent of PA fuel is tax? let's say it's 30%.  if a tri axle truck (I have a CDL) uses $200 a day in fuel, and their are 30 trucks to a group,.... 200*30*6 Days... now their are easly 1,000 water trucks on the road each day in this business...

The high way tax, that is part of that 30% should be going to our highways.  This is not includeig the 1,5000 gal' of fuel that is taxed (but not highway tax)  to run a rig each day.  Or the fuel in heavy equipment, off road trucks, and other equipment used to build and operate in this business.  SO the state should be S***'N tax money now.  Also, working for these companies as a road worker, you work by oilfield rules.  No smoke breaks or lolly gaging around.  This is an issue with many of these companies.

Another issue, is the fact that these companies do not fix a road 100% until the work is done.  Why would you?  but when roads are no longer seeing hard traffic,  they are perfectly done.  Why? Voters live on that road.

If you would like to see a real example of this, go to East Texas - all of the little country roads are paved - using money generated by oil and gas taxes.
A couple of years ago a company said they would pave one of our roads and the TWP road crews stopped them saying it was there job. Then the TWP said there was no money to do the work and we got a spotty tar and chip. We now have new supervisors and new road crew not sure how they will handle this now. They did put large rocks in the ruts that the trucks made in our front yard when two of the trucks found out only one truck can fit at a time.

We had Chesapeake put roads in AND maintain them!

You have to pay attention to their efforts and make sure they do the job to your satisfaction.

If you are not satisfied then start calling them.

We did.

Our road was just repaired last year. They did a good job. Only now they have more wells to drill and I expect the situation to break up what they have done. I only can hope they will fix it again. Atlas, Williams and the other contractors have split up the legal status so much you can't always be sure who to call in an emergency.
