I wish all impersonators would discontinue pretending to be somebody they are not on this site. I realize there is an awful lot of money involved in this shale play, but placing fear in landowners minds to entice them to business with you is exremely unethical. I have gained as much knowledge as I possibly could this past three years...in hope of getting an Oil and Gas Company to lease our old family farm. The reality is we still do not have a deal...but I take pride in helping others navigate through this river we call Marcellus shale. I will not name names...you know who you are...please stop!

I feel my advice is just as relevant. So you are a land man? This is my full time gig. I have said that ppl should take action on there own. I have said the industry is doing a good job of educating the masses and good legal info should not be left to a forum. What can u disagree with?

I own a land leasing company.  I do land work and have several land men that work for me.

Your tone and characterization that the nat gas industry and the people in it are all a bunch of crooks (believe it or not) is not going to sit well with many of the people here.

If you don't mind me asking, where exactly are you from?

No I'm saying that dirty people follow this business. I'm sorry but people are people. I love this business. But when we are talking about tons of money trust no one.
I totally agree that the net "serves in purpose" , giving opportunity to good and bad folks.JUST LIKE REAL LIFE..Chuck you seem to be a forward Man, but honestly  you need to pratice good manners, I believe it is called "Etiquette " ..please ditch the sarcastic undertone and treat us with respect.

I think that Mike will take any negs I have to say about the business, or any dirty little truths as an attack.  This is an industy.  Don't kid us and say that it's all good.  That is the first class ticket to feed Josh fox's face.  Be real.   Are you telling us that you won't keep some secrets to yourself to get the best price you can for land, only to resell it?  Is this a shocker?

I am very infavor of the indystry Mike, but you are a land man, and your title makes you suspect. You could only wish for the contacts we have in our business.

Chuck,

I'm not saying that it's "all good"  I'm saying that there are a lot of people out there that are honest and good hearted and do want to see landowners get a fair shake. That's all.

We are always open and honest about our intentions.  In the business, plans inherently change and that can often have large implications to landowners which can bring out a lot of emotions.  As the face of the industry, we have to bear the brunt of that and it's a big part of why land agents are seen as a bunch of no good  "liars".

most land men are and I'm sorry, but that's the business you went into right?

Why would I let my gaurd down when land men constantly DO LIE and I'm sorry but this is business. it's hand to hand combat.

Did you become a land man to make tons of money or save ppl? IT's the job you choose and I'm sorry, but even if you were my best friend, if you were offering me a land contract I'd presume you were out to screw me over.  You picked your job, if it's full of crap bags, don't bitch.

and I AM every bit of who I SAY I AM.

Chuck,

If you're ever down this way I'll buy you a beer and you can vent all your landman frustrations.  I bet you'll feel better once you get it all off your chest.

Cheers!

-Mike

I would also like to add my wish to this list - people who make up stories to push their personal agendas.  There are people who use this site, who like those wishing to make money off the unsuspecting, hope to push their agendas towards anti-drilling but do it under false pretenses.  If you have an agenda, please don't beat around the bush about it; if you're not willing to stand up and face the music for your opinion, maybe you ought to reconsider it or take it to a site more in line with your way of thinking.  I have had discussions with both pro and con here on GO Marcellus, including those involved in the Dimock situation and lawsuit.  While the exchange between myself and the Dimock resident may not have been the most pleasant, at least the person made no bones about who they were and what they stood for.  They were willing to state who they were instead of trying to make their points under false pretenses.

Well said Sherry!

yea so why isn't the whole story in this post?

josh fox is a spoil boy from NYC who's folks had a weekend home in PA. He used his method acting education to relocate and learn the ways of farmers.  He lied.  why do the stories from Dim' never include the stories of the ppl who dump stuff in their own water to get some $ and the fact that those ppl are paid for their arguments as well.

I have theories Mr. Reed, but only theories.  I can say with some certainty more light will be shed on the situation over the next couple of months.  Not wanting to be a thread buster though, I will leave it at that.
