Drivers have to be very skillful avoiding very deep potholes on Broughton road. One dangerous place is on a curve. Trying to drive on the western side of the road to avoid the potholes can put you in a position of a HEAD ON COLLISION!  The drivers cannot see around this curve for only a short distance. If you are very careful, a driver north bound might be able to squeeze to the right, off of the pavement, between the potholes and the ditch.

A head on collision in this area is likely to cause serious injuries and even death to unsuspecting drivers.

I would hate to have the responsibility on my shoulders if an accident should take place because of these very deep potholes. A few shovelfuls of some kind of material is all it would take to alleviated the dangerous  condition!

As I understand, Travis Peake is supposed to repair damages to the roads being used by their trucks and equipment. Recently I made a trip to the Pittsburg area to visit Lu Ann's family. On the way to Pittsburg we noticed many miles have been repaved with new surfaces, bridges repaired or replaced. Broughton road needs to be beefed up if more heavy trucks are to travel on it. But until that takes place, there is one very dangerous place that needs immediate attention. These potholes are several inches deep and a couple feet in diameter. Any driver not familiar with the condition in these certain places can easily lose control while trying to avoid the potholes and suddenly find themselves in a head on crash or dropping into the deep gully.

In this one particular area. there has been at least  four accidents in past years. Drivers cannot see oncoming traffic in this particular area.!!!

FIX THIS PARTICULAR AREA NOW! BEFORE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT TAKES PLACE!

Have you tried reporting this to Travis Peake or to your township or county?  No offense, but posting about this here does not seem like the best way to get this fixed.  It sounds like a pretty serious issue.

I have just been informed that "Hawbakers", I presume to be an outfit that repairs and builds roads, are supposed to  start working on Broughton road within a couple of weeks. Lots of vehicles will be seriously at risk until two weeks pass.

All it takes is one speeding and careless driver approaching this blind curve to maybe be catastrophic for someone. At least four vehicles have already gone out of control in that area and ended up in the gulley or trees. Two were people that I know.

Oh I am sure these folks, Travis Peake Representatives and the township officials know about the conditions. Just a couple weeks ago a crew came and marked out areas that needed attention. And then later a crew came with an excavator and did a little scraping a few yards for a waterway along one side. But they did absolutely nothing to improve the driving conditions on the road itself.  One of the onlookers was a township supervisor,  and the other man I believe to be Jack Cochran, the person from Travis Peake in charge of the Painter well drilling operation itself.

And even if Travis Peake is responsible for fix the  damage caused by their heavy equipment, I would think that the township could at least fill these very deep potholes at these dangerous spots. If an accident does occur as a result of these particular potholes and a head on with serious injuries, Travis Peake will likely have a great deal of trouble trying to lease more drilling sites in this area. Even a small load of patching material in these particular potholes will make this portion of the road much safer!

Here it is Thursday. I noticed that someone has painted arrows that direct the traffic to their own side of the road at this treacherous portion of the road. So I presume other drivers have had one too many close encounters with vehicles trying to avoid these huge potholes. These is room for them to drive clear to the right side of these potholes and avoid a possible head on collision! Patching these few potholes will pretty much remove the dangerous conditions that cause many drivers to swing to the opposing lane!
