My extended family has the oil & gas rights for 137 acres we won when the decision came down on the dormant minerals act. There are 30 members of the family holding various percentages of a share of the rights. Two people have refused to sign a lease at this point. We haven't contacted the company who wants to lease yet since there is still a chance that these 2 people might sign. The property is located in Ohio.
What are the laws about when a well is planned & only a small percentage of people refuse to sign? Are they required to? Can they be left out of the deal so that things can move forward? How does this work?
