I heard that Utica wells are possibly going to be drilled in the near future in my area. I'm already in a Marcellus unit and receiving royalties. They say the Utica has much more gas then Marcellus. They won't be able to use the same well pad (I've been told) and a new well pad/drilling site will have to be constructed. All in all, this is good news. These things take time, but hopefully in a few years it will come to fruition. By the way, I'm located in Marshall County, WV

Is Southwest doing this?

No CNX I have heard they want to be drilling wells by 2017
Guess what Zack ? More well pads, gas lines and all the things that come with it.

A.  This is old news

B.  More gas = less value.  Supply and demand

C.  More pads, roads, pipelines etc.

D.  You're at the mercy of an oil and gas company combined with the govt.  Good luck

We definitely need more utilization of the gas we are producing.  More power plants, more pipelines, and more vehicles converted over to CNG.  Push your local governments to convert school buses and fleet vehicles.

I had heard that one of the reasons your area was so interesting to oil and gas companies was that they would be able to use the same pad/location to drill to the Marcellus, the Utica, and maybe the Upper Devonian or the Trenton-Black River.  I'm surprised they're making a new pad.  Cuts down on their profit.

Something to do with NBL and CNX being in a joint venture for the Marcellus but not the Utica so I have
Also heard they can't reach as far with the Utica laterials because of the additional depth making the pads for the Marcellus pads to far apart to utlize all the Utica shale in the same area.
I hope I stated that clearly enougth.

I asked the Noble rep. if the same pads would be used and he mentioned something about "regulations" where they have to be a certain distance away (the new pad). I'm just relaying what I heard....I don't know if that's the case or not.

Well I guess we shall see what they do in a year or two that is if the price of gas doesn't drop down below a dollar or so

That makes tons of sense.
