Will there be any activity on or near Salt Fork State Park in Guernsey County?

Hopefully!! the state of Ohio could cash in BIGTIME if they would lease the thousands of acres around Salt Fork lake. They wouldn't have to have any wells drilled on state grounds, they wouldn't have to have any truck traffic either. It's a NO Brainer for the state, but our Gubner is against it at this time. SAD, it's the reason for no wells being drilled around the fringes of the lake and the lack of pipeline plans. Not only hurting the State, but all landowners within a couple miles of the park! Oh Well, I think there is an Election coming up?
It's all about politics. Someday it'll happen I'm sure but probably not any time soon
Parts of Salt Fork maybe forced pooled just like we have seen with ODOT.
I've heard; true,or false? that when the state took that land from the landowners there to build a lake and state park, that they didn't get the mineral rights. And the people who owned the land are now dead and gone. their heirs are who knows where, and searching deeds /titles for mineral ownership is going to be a nightmare. Did'nt know ,back then, that the oil&gas could be extracted by Horizontal drilling about a mile below. If the state DOES have the mineral rights,Then it would be a no-brainer to lease, get more $$$ to give back to the tax payers. Yea,Right. Be nice to know before the election!
My guess is that the state would still own the minerals due to abandonment.
May be a legal mess for the O&G co.s May be why all drilling and pipelines have stopped at Winterset/Birmingham/Old Washington line. in Guernsey county. Don't have time for that right now.
Maybe they have already leased it .Stuffed away the $90 mil. Didn't let the public know?

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
