A couple article quotes:

1.) "The API report estimated that increased production in the gas-rich Marcellus Shale of the Northeast alone could add 280,000 new jobs over the next decade. "

 2.) "Oil and gas directly or indirectly employs about 9.2 million people nationwide and pays an average $95 million per day in taxes, rents, royalties and other payments throughout the nation"

The comments on this article are good to read.

Many thanks...It seems to me that the energy industry has the ability to transform the community by providing jobs, support services and improve housing value over time.  It's been such a long dry spell for New Castle that I'm hopeful this new economic opportunity will be the shot in the arm that puts lots of good people back to work and makes the City stand tall once again.  I was born and raised in New Castle and still have family there.  I visit a few times a year and am always welcomed back as if no time has passed.  But driving thru the old neighborhoods reminds me that economy has not been kind to the community so I am hopeful that this new industry will be a good way forward for all involved.

good news with the siesmic crew lets hope they find what they are looking for.  Anyone know what is going on with the well they are drilling in lawrence county?

geo kinetics were also seen working in mount jackson last week. They were set up by the fire hall. Looks like they are hitting the area hard.

I'm new to trying to understand this industry--are these seismic operations the first stage of identifying where the gas fields are located and where the ultimate drilling operations will be undertaken?  What is the lag time between the early operations and the actual drilling?  Thanks so much.
