HB1684 is supposed to be on the agenda today, Monday Oct 20.  I am not sure if this means a vote or just paper shuffling to try to convince voters that their legislators are still alive.  I think I saw once a live video feed from the house floor and I am going to look and see if I can find it.

Lets hope we here some news about this, been quiet too long.

With elections less than a month hence, landowners will NEVER be in a stronger position than they now are to demand action.  Over all politicians, this is the interval of time when voters have maximum leverage.  For anyone who has been contemplating contacting your legislator but who postponed that contact, strike now while the iron is hot.  This is the time!

They must have talked to the legislatures in Ohio who also ignored such a bill.

From what I am reading on Yaws website I think it went out the window.  If it were the other way around and we had told people that they would get no less than 12.5 % we would be in deep trouble bc we went against our state law but bc it is the almighty gas cos. we lose, they win.  What does it matter how the gas leases were written and signed, we had a state law to protect and guarantee us our 12.5 %, Im certain when this law was enforced it did not mean that any costs, production, gathering fees, whatever...... were to be taken out otherwise why make the law in the first place.

Robert,

That brings to mind the Texas Judge that ruled that the word "Royalty" is undefined.

That must only be in the oil and gas industry since all of our federal agencies are guarding the Movie Industry, Music Industry, Drug Industry and copy write laws to make sure the companies and individuals are not being cheated out of their ROYALTIES.

Maybe landowners just lack the backing of the State and Federal Government to ensure we get paid a fair payment for our minerals. The word Royalty is well defined and has been used in the Oil & Gas business since the turn of the last century.

Makes me wonder how a system based on sharing a percentage of production could be so difficult to understand. But, no one has ever offered me enough money to cloud my thinking. If they did they would find "That Dog Won't Hunt!", my Momma never raised no fool!
