I have been working with Chesapeake Energy in leasing my land.  Has anyone else been approached about leasing.  I am told they are planning on drilling in the Utica Shale.  I am sure there are other members who have been contacted.

Brad Hillyer out of Uhrichsville is good with Oil and Gas law

In mid-July we received a feeler to lease 60 acres of land in northern Marlboro Twp., Stark County.  The landsman was really a woman operating out of Texas (Bellaire), and she appeared to be representing Sierra.  The final offer was $350/acre for 5 years, with no specific strata spelled out.  We chose to sell the land instead and allow the new owners to make their own decision.  To my knowledge, very few of our neighbors chose to lease either.

I just noticed a drilling rig that was located at the corner of Rt. 153 and Rt 183.  Does anyone know who is drilling this well and if it is a vertical or horzontal well?  Just wondering thats all.

yes that is a clinton well, chesapeake was here on Monday and told us about that.
Oh I see.  So they are still drilling the Clinton.  If you don't mind me asking, was Chesapeake drilling this well?????
I am not sure. They didn't say. Could I ask if you had the like 4 - 5 page amendmant drawn up by or gone over by an attorney? We have heard about that and asked Chespk if we could sign an agreement like that.  They didn't tell us obviously, someone else did.
Yes, I signed a 5 page amendmant back in Nov.  that was drawn up by an atty out of Alliance.  I put together a group of landowners and we had about 500 acres and we all signed this.  A couple of landowners signed a slightly different lease.  One that had no developmental rights to it because they did not want a well pad on their land.  In fact, I rec'd my bonus checks a couple of weeks ago so CHK made good on their payment.
david I:M just east of you on maplegrove . theres already a well on my place .I think in the clinton oil, no ones talked to me about any other drilling. or do they go thru the org lease holder. jim
Jim, I think your land would be held by production.  Unless your lease has a clause that it is only to a certain depth, then I think it would be consided leased to the center of the earth.  My guess, Chesapeake has purchased the deep rights to your land from the original lease company that has the well on your property.  I would take your lease and look at it and if you have any questions, consult an atty.

Jim, look your name and/or parcel number up on the county Recorder's Office.  If you have an existing lease, there have been approx. 15,000 properties (our farm is one of them) that have been subleased already.  I found this sublease "recorded" against our farm.  I was expecting to see this.  The paperwork attached to our farm is 48 pages and consists of 11,000 pieces of property.  (Becky Thompson)

Does it have to do with Enervest (the current leaseholder and well owner) making a dealn with chk in a farmout of the deap rights?
thanks becky,
