A week or so ago they finished fracing the Petrik well. Right now they are fracing the Maga well on Achortown road.

I was over at the Thompson well area. They are sellling gas as the equipment is gurgling away, however we have no way of knowing which well is supplying the product. I also counted 11 large track hoes parked in the area of the current gathering line they are installing.

I'll say it again:  2014 is the break out year for Beaver County.

Happy New Years,  ALL!!!

Keep that information flowing Craig. The seismic test covering the lower BC townships is underway. You guys up north have a two year head start.
Time to play catch-up!
Great news Craig and Jason! It appears that Hancock's year may be 2015 - I hope! :)
Craig,
Do you know if these are all Utica wells being completed in South Beaver or are any Rhinestreet wells being drilled and completed as well?
Thanks,
Todd

Todd, I do not know for sure about all the wells being completed or fraced now.  I do believe that the ones being fraced now are Utica wells, I'm absolutely sure some of them are Utica. From what I've seen all pads have at least one well to the Utica, while others to be drilled are permitted differently and probably goto other plays. I also know that at least one well has permits for two plays from the same downhole, while others use their own downhole to hit a different play. No specifics as PA reporting is abit lacking in scope.

Craig

Thanks Craig,
I figured they're mostly if not, exclusively, drilling the dry Utica now for pipeline connection. Most likely, the wet Rhinestreet will be drilled after the hopeful ethane cracker is approved.
Interesting that they're drilling 2 shale layers from the same borehole. Which pad is that located at? Very interested to see all of the upcoming results of production!
Todd

Todd, I just quick counted the wells that have 2 permits for the same downhole and there are 9 I believe. Petrik, wall, jenkins, maga, mcroberts, mcmasters, fedorchak, ferrebee, and  liberato. They are listed like this:    Petrik 8H and Petrik 8H M   .

There are also wells that are listed as V, which probably means they are permitting the downhole and will permit whatever Horizontal(s) they want off of that vertical.... this is a guess upon my(and others) thoughts.

Craig

I was told by a landowner who has one of the permitted "V" wells by Chesapeake that they were permitted as a vertical well for now, as there is no intention to drill them in the near future, but in order to hold the leases, they had to renew the wells permits and the cost of a vertical permit is less than a horizontal permit. This worries me because there was news on Wall Street last week that Chesapeake will divest of even more wells in the dry gas area and let some leases expire.

Craig,
Are you 100% sure CHK is using the same downhole for the Rhinestreet and Utica? Based on Rex's multi-strata wells in Butler and Magnum Hunter's multi-strata Stalder Pad in SE Ohio, I thought CHK would drill separate downholes for different strata.
Frank,
If CHK only drills a vertical to hold mass acreage, they are asking for more lawsuits. Also, remember that the Rhinestreet is wet. That being said, CHK selling is not necessarily a bad thing depending on who it is.
Todd

Frank, I understand what you are saying but the way they are listed it doesn't make sense. I just looked and every Well listed as a Vertical already has one well drilled in a different downhole on the same pad.

Here's what it looks like for the Petrik well:

Petrik BEA 3V   Permit # 007-20389

Petrik BEA 8H  Permit # 007-20336

Petrik BEA 8H M  Permit #007-20350

The only one drilled is the 8H, which would be the Utica.

8H M would be targeting the Marcellus, using the same number 8 downhole.

V of course is vertical only and notice it is the number 3 downhole.

I don't believe they could hold a whole other horizontal by drilling just a vertical. Maybe they could hold a certain amount of land in a circle around the downhole?

If you look at their recent presentation the map clearly shows our area in the wet gas area, regardless from which strata, from what I can see. And remember, when the cracker plant gets built (notice I don't use if anymore cause I believe it is coming) there will be a tremendous demand for natural gas, regardless of the price I suspect.

If CHK divests our area ( which i believe is NOT the case), we might well be better off, who knows?

A vertical well can, at most, hold the one lease that is drilled upon.

Craig,

Here are the well plats for Fedorchak:

3H M drilled to Rhinestreet Shale

3H drilled to Utica Shale

As you can see on the well plats, the 3H M well borehole is located 20' away from the 3H well borehole.  Therefore, different "downholes" are being drilled for separate wells.
