The Shell land man has been calling and even stopped by. The kids have answered the phone (I'm outside much of the day); the guy always asks for my ex-husband. The kids say he isn't here, do you want to talk to my mom? The guy says no. He won't leave a message, but I'm sure it's Shell; no one else would ask for my ex at this number. When he stopped by I was out mowing behind the garage; my son talked to him, pointed me out, but again, he didn't want to talk to me..he'd wait to talk to  'Brian' (my kids are still annoyed about the divorce and won't tell people that dad lives in Philadelphia). Sigh. This game could go on for a while.

Brian and I are divorced, he doesn't live here, and I bought out his share of the farm (we are both still on the deed until I can refi...my ex says the gas rights are mine alone, and he'll sign whatever I need him to) so I'm the one the guy needs to talk to. I'm in no hurry; they are the ones that want to do their 3-D survey. I'm getting kind of insulted that he doesn't want to talk to me (being a single woman farmer has made me over-sensitive to men who don't want to do business with 'the little woman' and will wait to talk to the man...there are still a few people like that around, and I've stopped doing business with them). Should I contact them, or wait for this guy to decide he should talk to ME?

Lynn, you might try contacting this woman at the following e-mail address.  Andrea.Garrity@shell.com  SWEPI neglected to pay me some money for the lease renewel on a chunk of land that I own and she sorted it out.  She may not be quite the correct department in Shell, but she was very curtious and helpfull.  At least you would be able to deal with another woman representative and that might be more comfortable for you.  I could give Terry Bryant's  contact iformation.  He is a local yokal involved in the leasing for Shell.  Personally, I have more faith in someone a little remote and unconnected to personal profit from the local people that they grew up with.  If you want his number or e-mail after trying Andrea, give me a note.  Good luck.

And maybe you can explain to this person who refuses to talk with you just what the situation is berween you and your EX. Write it in a note and have you kids hand it to him next time he appears.

if and when the land man figures it out that the land is your tell him dont want to deal with a man and are there any land women you can talk to give him a little disrepsect. he earned it lol
Thanks all for the suggestions! I assume I'll meet up with this guy sooner or later. It's just frustrating; I'm ready to negotiate and he doesn't want to talk to me. I assume he'll get real friendly when he finds out that I'm the one with the power. If I don't hear from him soon, I'll contact Andrea. Thanks!
I have in hand an offer from Shell of 2000/15%/5years. It included a bank draft. They are asking for way to many surface rights. I will try to get a subsurface lease.  This is days after requesting permission for seismic survey.   Shippen township

At this point I might settle for that deal Dan.

I'd think about it too,  about a minute then sign ...............
Many people have said that Shell is offering the same $2000/15% for a non-surface lease.  That would eliminate most of the problems I have with leasing (mostly environmental concerns about disposal wells, totally trashing my place, etc).
