Does anyone know if the Muskegum Watershed District lands have been leased? If so, to whom did they lease and how much did they get?

I believe they signed with Gulfport.

no info on the details....they are very tight lipped about the deal for PR reasons.

Thanks for the info.  I was hoping it was Chesapeake, since we leased with them and share a border with Conservancy property around Leesville Lake.

I believe the price was $16.00 an acre.

If that is all they got, no wonder they are tight-lipped about it.  That seems like a very low amount.

Is it the Muskingum Watershed District you mean?  I went to Muskingum College and us Muskies get fired up over the spelling LOL!!  Usually it ends up Muskingham.

Sorry about the spelling.  I did mean the Muskingum Watershed District.

Lol... Dr. J, I am attending there right now in the MAP program.  I almost mentioned the mis-spelling earlier today...

The price was $1600.00 sorry.

A quite reliable source indicates that MWCD signed a lease with

Gulfport Energy for approximately 7000 acres at the Clendening Reservoir for $13,231,011.60. This calculates the signing bonus to be $1890 per acre. There are reportedly am additional 30,000 acres still available for lease within the MWCD.

Thank you for the information.  It will be interesting to see how they handle future leases.  Also, I heard that they are supplying water for fracking from one of the lakes.  If this is true, do you know which one, and if they charge for the water.
