Patterson well

I looked in the sky and it is orange. Oh yes I have seen this before only its a lot bigger, what I drove down the road to see was the utica well being flared off on the patterson well. It had to be four or five times the size of the marcellus well flare which was in of itself a pretty good one. This well has a marcellus and a utica on it as a"test well". Looks like they passed the test. It is amazing and really hot from afar. It was raining and so as the flame was taller than the flare pipe, the groud was steaming all arond.

What part of Northern Butler County?  What township?

JMS,

     I am in Washngton TWP. We haven't signed as of yet. We came to an agreement as far as addendums in late November. According to the landman, we have been waiting on Shell to draw up the official paperwork paperwork since then. The deal is $3250, 5yrs + 5 yrs, 18% WITHOUT deductions. Haven't heard anything since the 15th. Going to try to see what's up today.

So you are saying that Rolling Acres well is complete?

It has been drilled and fracked for sure.

I believe that the only thing left for them to do is the flare and test flow. They do have what appears to be a heater treater/separator of some kind sitting in the far corner with a few misc pieces of equipment that possibly would be used in flaring/testing. I am only deducing this from what i've seen at other wells. I am not in the know.

Where is the Rolling Acres well site located? Is it a Utica or Marcellus or both?

Utica, South Beaver Twp, Beaver County,  Pa on Achortown road near the Rolling Acres Golf Course.

Is that the course between Darlington and Enon?

Looks like a pattern of drilling a few miles east of Ohio Line in a rough North and South line ? What do you think?

Did anyone do seismic testing around here? I never saw them near me if they did.

No it isn't, the course is located just about a mile due South of the Blackhawk Golf course/Blackhawk High School area.

No I don't think the trend is drilling the sites roughly N/S. The first well drilled, the thompson well was followed by the Tharp well which is almost due West of the thompson well. The third well drilled was the Rolling Acres well which is about due east of the Thompson well. The fourth and current well being drilled is the Ferrebee (spelling?) which is located a few miles South of the Thompson well and just abit East.

The next well appears to be about due West of the current one being drilled. There is a method to their madness, but I don't know what it is.....unless it only has to do with CHK having to drill lots of wells quickly to lock up leases that are about the expire. The o and g companies absolutely hate to pay twice for a lease.

Seismic had been done around this area back in 2007 when two test wells were drilled. Then they ran seismic through the middle of our area N, almost to Darlington, and S almost to Midland, last spring. Hope this helps

There is going to have to be a whole lot of drilling done in the next 5 years to avoid double paying bonus that's for sure! The suspense is killing me! LOL!

Craig and Glenn...

I was talking to EQT on Thursday regarding drilling the next well that is in another pooled unit I'm part of and I was told they always drill north first then south and that is why I'm part of that unit?  Does this mean that when they start drilling the well the well hole goes north and then turn it to go South?  I didn't have a chance to finish asking the questions because my boss walked in my office...

Good question Cougar. I was referring to site location since Shell's next site in my neck of the woods is maybe 3 or 4 miles north of the Patterson Well.

The ''grain'' of the Marcellus runs roughly NE to SW so I think they drill NW to SE (across the grain) for more effective fracturing. (Anyone: please correct me if I am wrong).

I really don't know about the Utica as far as direction goes. It sprawls over a such a greater area.

I am guessing your wells are Marcellus? Are they getting many liquids out of them?

Hope your boss doesn't watch this site..LOL!

The question you had earlier about the frac tanks. The reason  they are still there is because they arent going through production equipment yet.
