One of the concerns of the anti-fracing crowd is that the out of state workers bring mischief to the communities that they work in. Well well, seems that the conclusion was a wee bit premature. Penn State just released a study saying there is no current link to this myth:

Makes you wonder where the antis ever came up with this fact in the first place. Of course, no bias was involved....

I never understood this - always assumed it was more or less true, as the JOBS were taken by PEOPLE!  Yes, if more people move in to a community, there will be an uptick in crime.  I'm guessing the same crime rate, but more instances... as, you know, we don't employ robots but actual people with faults.  It's frustrating because you never hear that level of scrutiny for a different corporation enticing people to move nearby - a super Walmart opens up, a few hundred employees, ever hear about the added crime that brings??

Bleh.  Glad this is something to point to though, along the same vein as the NORM scare last year.
