I have been doing a little research and speaking with friends and neighbors about forming a group to address the needs of those of us not yet represented by a landowners group.
This led me to call ALOV after hearing that they had accepted some acreage in Trumbull county.
I paid little attention to ALOV earlier as their website did not list Trumbull county as an area of interest, although the work they were doing was certainly of great interest to me.
From what i gather there was a cut-off of June 30 for sign-up with ALOV, they extended that and also had a meeting at RD banks Chevy in Champion. This may not be news to some of you, but i had not come across the posting until after. The word i got from an individual at ALOV was that Chesapeake set a northern geographical cut-off in Trumbull county of St.Rt.88, again this may not be a newsworthy flash to some. Many landowners attended, more than expected according again to a source at ALOV, and signed up their acreage.
Now heres the news, ALOV has agreed to start a "Waiting List" of still more interested parties from areas north of St.Rt.88. If you call them with name, address and phone number they will put you on the list, and depending on level of interest, they may choose to represent us as a group in a similiar fashion, with the same or even better terms to Chesapeake, or another interested party.
So call up ALOV, their number is listed on their site www.alov.us , and ask to be included in their next go around. From where i stand why re-invent the wheel, they already have done the groundwork and have the attention of the industry on favorable terms, lets ask them to either start another "Pool" to include us, or come work with us to the same end.

Hello again to all my fellow Utica Shale Owners. I Just stopped in to ask if there were any who signed with BP from the ALOV Northern Trumbull county group, that resulted from these efforts, still around.
Has anyone had any conversations/correspondence from BP concerning title defects, or other issues that would delay payment or affect your lease, or gotten a check for Bonus money?

Had a Lady in my office tonight that has less than 10 acres and has recieved her check. She has two addresses, one actual and one P O Box. Her check came USPS in one of those Priority mail envelopes last Friday to her P O Box. She is in Northern Trumbull. She knew of one other that had 13 or so acres and they had gotten theirs Fed Ex.
On another note we had a Fed Ex delivery here today of some other items and we asked him about any checks or how many a day etc,etc, and he said he is Fed Ex freight, he has not seen or heard of one, the checks are probably Fed Ex express, a totally differnt division or route. That explains why the smaller truck and two in the twp, the bigger trucks making regular deliveries and the smaller vans with the checks.
In talking with a farming neighbor who owns and has leased lands now in Portage, Trumbull, and now working on leasing his lands in Ashtabula counties, he said that Mr.Rae told him that checks from BP were issued July 1st. for delivery and will be again on August 1st.
He is waiting on a BP check right along with us, he said he was a Lessor in one of the earlier ALOV groups that already got paid out and is also part of this Northern Trumbull county group.
Hope they come through!

Your correct of course, i think the implied meaning as conveyed to me was on or about July 1st., in either event were still waiting, and hoping we wont have to wait until on or about sept. 29th.
I'm just anxious because I teach and would love to be able to finance a little trip to visit relatives before school starts up again! I feel so greedy!!
I think your eagerness is more than justified, i believe we are all very eager for much the same reason's. I think we were all a little foolish for agreeing to 180 days in the lease language, thought the same on the day a vote was called for and said as much to any who would listen up. What really frosts me is that we were assured verbally that "checks would be issued as title's cleared". Whats worse is the reassuring smiles and assurances we would be treated as individuals, and any concerns would be greeted with "personal attention" and handled with "professionals with compassion" by BP at the lease signing event.
I emailed BP with my personal circumstances for making the request and a request to know the status of my property's title work, had it been started? Any glitches popping up? When would i get a check?
I received an email a week later to the effect that "there is no possible way for them to look into the status of any one landowner/or property's status. All property's will be cleared and paid or notified of incurable title defect's by October 1st. 2012, as per the lease." How's that for individual treatment/ positive landowner relations?
I just did some quick, very basic and possibly flawed math (so no reason to point that out, haha). 180 days, i will call that 6 months , 4 weeks to a month, lets call that 20 banking days per month, x's 6 = 120 days.
Somewhere around 1500 property owner's in the 1st. BP group, so thats 12.5 property's cleared per day, i guess that's alot even with the improvements made down at the courthouse. It took me longer to type that than to figure it so the numbers could be flawed. I guess we should just be patient.
Not to mention they are going through 200 years of records to make sure there are no outstanding title issues or the mineral rights have ever been split. I'm waiting just like you, but if I was in there shoes, I would want to make sure every parcel being leased is free and clear of issues. I'm sure they don't want any headaches like chesapeake is having with some of the property they have leased.
Fang, After some further thought (see above comment) i agree with you, it's just difficult to be patient for what to many of us is life changing money.
I have worked in a couple of different industry's and in many capacities, one that i did excel in was customer relations and i just find the tone of BP's responce to rub me the wrong way.
I did at one time earn a very good living and had things well under control, or so i thought, but life happens and this money will give my family a second chance and get us square with the house if you can relate. So i guess i'll just shut up and wait like the rest of us.
I think a lot of us are feeling duped by what is going on. I have an email from the woman from BP who is in charge of this project assuring me that all checks will be issued but couldn't tell me what would happen if there is a problem. It took 8 days for her to respond and even though it was a very nicely worded response, I get the feeling that we are being laughed at. This isn't the personal attention that both ALOV and the attorneys assured us that we would be getting. I am still upset that we have to wait the 180 days for a check when Bob Rea told us at one of the very first meetings that we would be issued checks the day we signed with whoever won the bid for our lands. There is absolutely no need to feel greedy for wanting to get this money because of our collective financial situations. It's been very bad for a very long time in this area, and I for one am tired of the "powers that be" blowing smoke and I'm to the point that their words don't carry a lot of weight with me.
