Today Carrizo Oil & Gas announced that it is entering the Utica Shale Play by way of a Joint Venture with Avista Capital Partners. There are 15,000 acres involved and Carrizo is paying $1,500 per  acre for ONLY 10% interest. You do the math. What would the value per acre be for 100% interest?

The information in this report is very, very old ...

"... According to IHS, more than 135 drilling permits have been granted ..."

Actually, 485 Drilling Permits have been granted.

"... but only 11 having been completed with IP test volumes ..."

Actually, 196 Wells have been drilled with 45 wells in "Producing" status.

"... Chesapeake’s key Buell-8H (Utica) well in Harrison County, OH, which has delivered the best production to date ..."

And now we know there are "better" wells than the Buell 8H well.

In this case, the Gas & Pipeline Journal did not do their homework.

Weekly, up-to-date information can be found HERE.

Happy & prosperous New Year to all. Here's a few new articles on the Utica Play.

Still kickin Randy, very impressive numbers indeed. Gulfport is a good solid co. After I leased with them , I bought their stock & it has doubled. Needless to say I am  more than happy with this co.

Scott, good move on buying their stock. Here's the Bloomberg story about Aubrey McClendon resigning from Chesapeake.

Still toying with buying CHK or not. Its a gamble but could pay off in long run.

At least you havent bought it yet. I'm sitting with some we bought around 29/sh. Wish I'd waited a bit and bought Gulfport.

I think it will pan out in long run Jon but who knows.

Jon and Scott, and all others out there who are interested in Gulfport-Rhino-Wexford Capital, here's a link to Rhino's press release about their operations and earnings call. Halfway down you'll find their Utica info. If you can find the time, listen to their call tomorrow or check back later for the recording. You'll learn a bit about Gulfport and how the play is developing. All the best....
