I hope it's accurate but it seems like all the maps are different. I guess we will just have to wait and see what the production numbers say this spring.

It may be in Marcellus but not Utica

William - Brooke, Hancock and even Beaver Co PA are wet. But don't judge my opinion from this map. There are several layers of shale under this area. The map you're looking at is Utica only. Stay tuned as things are really picking up in the area. I'm in Hancock county with property in Beaver. You might want to follow the Hancock County
Group as it has more activity.

There's ALOT of oil in the Marcellus in Brooke County.  Check out the completion reports online at WVGES:

In my opinion most of these maps are just about useless. There are even conflicting maps out there. These companies are only telling us what they want us to know or what they have to make public.... Or if they need to make something public for money raising purposes. Don't sell your area short. As mentioned by others there are more than 1-2 plays in the tri-state area. 

Of course this is only my 2¢ worth.

I agree with Craig on this!  In addition, we already know there are at least 3 productive plays in the WV panhandle area:  Upper Devonian, Marcellus (which is Middle Devonian) and Utica/Point Pleasant.

Brooke, Ohio and most of Hancock and Marshall Counties are in the Super Rich Marcellus. I'm just guessing but where Marcellus is super rich the Utica\Antes will be wet. If we get lucky the Medina Sandstones may have oil and gas.

Even better than that is the upper Devonian. There is the potential for 2 main reservoir packages (Burket\Middlesex and Rhinestreet) This will be the oil play.

Use the wet\dry gas line in the utica map above for a fair idea of the western line of upper devonian plays. The super rich Marcellus is in a small area and not defined yet.
